I haven't created any new content on these forums in a long time and since I had some isk walk away recently I thought I might as well toss some ideas out there for people to chew on.

Firstly, I did in fact give Zerina 8b isk as an investment but I definitely wouldn't call it a scam. I did absolutely zero research into it and simply did it because I felt like it. I did have a good feeling about him/her but any time I invest I always assume the worst is going to happen and I'll never get my isk back. I like being surprised.

While 8bill is a lot of isk to a lot of players I've probably given away a couple hundred billion isk in the Ships channel and Jita local over the past year through trivia and an assortment of games that entertain me and anyone that plays.

Ultimately, it is up to the people I invest in, in this case Zerina, to do what they feel is right if I'm going to take a chance on them. If that means taking the isk and running because it's the easy thing to do I can't fault them. I don't agree with them and I do feel like a part of their out of game character shines through to their in-game decisions, but I don't necessarily think they're a "bad person".

Over the years I've had a lot of people take chances on my personal investments and they've all enjoyed a great ROI from me. I've made my isk by working hard, investing in others (both risky and fully collateralized), and just trying to have fun. These three things have allowed me to make significantly more than the 8bill Zerina walked away with. I think it was a mistake on his/her part as there was far more to learn from the community by being a positive part of it but, C'est la vie.

I don't actually recall when or why I started doing it (i know it's been years) but it's a virtual middle finger, giving someone the bird. I'm pretty sure I originally did it in response to a post or something but it turned into a sort of call sign for me.

You don't need to explain the risks you choose to take or avoid whether they work or not.

I take fewer risks than many. That saved my ass twice (only lost half a billion when the four racial decryptor types were merged; I could have lost 10b+ out of that; also I broke even rather than losing out of a speculative buyup of T3 destroyer invention components when I misjudged the market)

It's also cost me opportunities. I correctly predicted Morphite's rise from ~6000 to ~11500 (well my analysis was 11.5k, it actually hit 13.5k). But inertia meant I only bought a bit over half a million units when I should have borrowed to buy millions of units.

Just take your risks, and learn what you can from both the ones that pay and the ones that burn you. And laugh when there's a "HAHAHAHA I scammed Amarr Citizen 155 SUCKER HAHAHA" thread posted.

Exaggeration is a quadrillion times better than understatement.
