Hello everyone,

I purchased this lovely pilot from the bazaar a couple months ago on a whim. Well, lovely after the recustomization, at least. Anyhow, after adorning her with implants, ships, and other assets, I have come to the conclusion that I have absolutely no clue what to do with her (especially as I'm a highsec lover-not-fighter type) as I'm terrible at making ISK in any other way than L4 missions.

-Great PI skills, but seems like a lot to learn, not very fun, and doesn't seem to make much in current economy
-Great Miner, but after I went on ham on Veldspar for a few quiet nights with some other alts, I realized that CODE is more necessary than CONCORD
-Perfect DST/freighter skills, but I realized it's sort of useless for a highsec casual player.

Can any of you please take a look at the eveboard, and suggest what YOU may be doing with a character like this? I have random production skills and a whole bunch of reprocessing but I have yet to figure out a way to turn a profit.

Please help! Thank you in advance. And I apologize if this post doesn't belong in this section (all her skills seem industry/science, so I thought it best)

EDIT: Added eveboard because I forgot because I'm bad

You'll need to provide a link and password to the eveboard in order for anyone to look at it.

Based on the information provided:

* you can setup a few planets for PI. It is not a road to riches, the best you can hope for in highsec is 50 million/month/planet making P2 but it is essentially passive income. Your factories will keep working while you run missions, go to work or sleep.
* you can train her to fly a Noctis - loot and salvage your missions. If either of you have leadership skills you can also fleet up for boosts.
* research, invention and manufacturing can be quite profitable and jobs run in the background - while you're doing other things.

These do require some player knowledge in addition to the character skills but eve university has courses an all of it

If industry isn't your thing, you can always put her back on the market.

Sounds like you purchased a Mine / Refine / Ship / Sell ore as minerals character, with a little PI filled in to pass the time while mining.

To be honest, I've spent 2.5 years playing EVE on my main, training purely battleship related skills and doing nothing but PVE missions and RP stuff. I realized how fail that was and tried to get into PVP for a long time, but in the end I accepted the fact that I'm a lover not a fighter and that will never change.

So I thought, why not try my hand at peaceful stuff, like Science/Industry? I would normally have done my research before purchasing the character, but a fellow CAS corp mate who had to quit EVE left me with a very generous donation, so I sort of jumped the gun Ugh

Thank you, but I bought her for 18.5 (I probably got ripped off), and spent a few B more on implants & plastic surgery!

Thanks, totally forgot to link the eveboard. Please give me some more advice after looking at the eveboard!

On another note, I've heard many positive things about your corp. Do you guys take trainees? Good DST//freighter skills on her~

Interesting skillset. Definitely oriented to mining and/or hauling but decent core skills - you can repurpose her for anything you want. Freighter 5 wouldn't be at the top of my list unless you truly love flying freighters, In the same amount of time you could train her to fly covert ops for exploration or an assault frigate like the Ishkur to dual box your missions.

http://red-frog.org/recruit.php . Usually takes a couple of months to get in https://sites.google.com/site/redfrogrecruiting/home/current-queue-and-your-status

You will need 2 (or more) accounts - contract ALT joins Red Frog. Freighter pilots stay in NPC corporations so business is unaffected by war.

Personally, I would find a nice little NRDS area like Providence and mine the hell out it. Lots of care bears out there and they get looked after pretty well. I find that it's safer than hi sec mining. Maybe find a corp that will help you with your goals. Since you are asking here, I assume your aren't getting a lot of help for the corp. There are plenty out there that would happily take you in. Post an advert looking for a very specific type of corp that would love to help out. You could probably even find that type of corp in wh space as well. Good money in gas mining.

Good luck.

Thank you for the info and advice! Freighter 5 does seem like a unnecessarily long train. Was considering a Gila as drone skills aren't too bad on her.

And that bit about 2 accounts really did answer a long standing curiosity I had about how Red Frog manages to not die from perma wardecs

Maybe we'll fly together in a few months Roll

I've heard a lot about Providence, but it almost seemed a little too good to be true. A NRDS null sec zone where a powerful group of friendly RPers protect carebears? I would think all the meaner groups out there would have come wipe them out long ago.

As for the rest, I will follow your adrive. Definitely should get myself into an active corp. I will definitely check out Providence corps. Thanks ~

Providence has always been a pain to wipe out because of the sheer number of stations making it a pain to take over. They also have a fairly large group of active people in a relatively small area. Yeah you'd have roving gangs coming in mostly from catch, but the sov holders are pretty good about catching them and killing them.

All in all I'd say it's a great place to go if you're just starting out in null. Hell, if I remember correctly there's a system right next to high that they usually guard so you don't have to go through low to get there.

That sounds great! Maybe they will let me set up my first base ever there to set up research labs or something. I hear it makes decent money just researching blue prints or something. Thanks! (TeoGirl's main)

I can attest to the safety of Provi/Catch. I recently moved out there as a miner/indy guy and we rarely see any big groups or gangs. If you're really interested you should look into joining The Volition Cult, as they are quite big and have anything and everything indy as well as PVP. Best of luck!

With that char you can also get easily into T2 production by just getting the various engineering skills up, you have all others there already. It does require some market research but its rather easy with programs like EVEIPH and so on.

The character is obviously a mining alt. If you no longer want to mine however there are a few things you can branch into... because mining characters typically have well trained shield skills you can move into shield incursion fleets for isk with a little development. Train into a logi Basi or Scimi and look at the TVP ship builds for additional training recommendations. Or train into battleships then hybrid battleships and gunnery for running dps in a shield fleet. It's a longer train but if you don't like logi it's a second option. Good luck.

  - remove the cloaked from local; free intel is the real problem, not  "afk" cloaking -

(I am the main ^^)

I thought about that too, but it seemed like a total waste of SP/character. Perfect transport ships & almost V freighters, a bunch of science and research skills, not to mention some building ones as well.

I do like your logi suggestion though. That I hadn't thought of at all. Logi dayjob, miner sidejob sounds enticing. Thanks!

I wouldn't write off null sec... mining/industrial pilots can be a valuable commodity in null sec, and you can still be a carebear. Plenty of the larger alliances have "renter corporations".... corporations that pay dues in order to enjoy the security provided by the parent PvP alliance. The PvP alliance gets the advantage of some funding for their PvP operations that keeps everyone safe and they get people who are filling their markets with ships and items they need for PvP. Renters get the security that the PvP alliance offers to go ratting (if you like level 4 missions, you'll love ratting!), mining (given that you have skills to provide mining boosts, you'll be valuable to your corporation), transporting goods, etc. A PvP alliance that can't get enough ships produced is at a severe disadvantage, which is where you as an industrialist comes in. Dues generally can be paid within a few hours of whatever you do for profit out there, and the rest of the month is for your benefit. Your corp mates will probably be able to get you blueprint copies to get started. Since you are getting the protection of the PvP alliance, you're actually going to be safer than you would in high-sec where code or trolls can suicide gank you.... there's still people who will try to get you, but you should have the alliance sharing intel when people move into your area.

As far as the science skills, invention is one of my favorite things in game and it's quite profitable. If you're curious, I suggest inventing Damage Control II, as that's a module that everyone wants and they're relatively cheap to make. You won't make heaps, but it's a safe one for a beginner, as you can learn the mechanics with little risk of selling at a loss. You can use spreadsheets, or programs like EVE ISK per Hour to track your expenses. I like it, because even when my work life is busy, I can still enjoy logging on for 20 mins a day to fiddle with it.
