It is considered very unusual to fly and PvP solo. I have been in few fw fleets and they used every pilot they could find. We killed some Navy Vexor once while fleet was composed of like 15 people in frigates. Oops

Pretty much what Nana said, unfortunately. Solo PvP is difficult, especially for someone new. Not to say it can't be done. Kiting ships are popular because they essentially control the terms of the engagement, which is to say, range. Getting the advantage against those ships requires outplaying them; either they make a mistake and you capitalize, or you consistently outfly them. Both of those will require experience, which, perversely, you can't get unless you die in a fire quite a bit.

Welcome to the grinder that is EVE, essentially.

It would be worth checking YouTube for solo PvP vids, although keep in mind "solo" can mean different things to different people. A lot of them tend to think they can use an alt in a link ship and an alt in a scout and as long as those alts don't participate in the shooting, it's still "solo." Roll

In any case, unfortunately the list of T1 frigates capable of kiting is pretty short. Most frigate weapons just don't have the range. Light missiles are the go-to weapon at the moment, hence the Kestrel. If you expand your definition of T1 frigate to "frigate that is usable without skills for T2" and go to Navy hulls, the Slicer and Hookbill can work. Bit more expensive, but not cripplingly so.

Your last line of defence is to use this trick: go in one direction, so the kiter will have to go after you. But you have to be outside web range. Then you rapidly change direction as you would want to fly into him, cutting his orbit with your ship,, and when he is near use all weapons, scram and web to shred him to pieces. Rapid maneuvers are usually hard to predict by kiter. Pirate

Forgot about them. Never flown one. Well, I have been catched few times by those cloaky, sneaky ones. I usually can slip out because of the ECM drones.

Considering this cloaky sneaky tactic I have only used my Stratios few times to booo the unsuspecting explorers. Lol
