I fully agree that in a strategic sense, the outcome was not changed but rather hastened by Empress Jamyl's arrival. But in a tactical sense, as in the fight there and then at the time, it was very decisive. It was a brilliant demonstration of the application of overwhelming force against a hostile aggressor. Her actions fatally crippled the Elder Fleet, and thus it was a tactical victory.

Naturally, it is too early to say how our late Empress will be recorded in ages to come, but it is my belief the tactical significance of her actions will continue to be remembered, even if only to support arguments about the political and symbolic consequences there-after.

Moving on back topic, to say the ritual deprives us of talent, I will only counter with that at the last Trials, Empress Jamyl herself stood in support of Shathol'syn. Yes, she returned to us, a divine miracle in my eyes, but she had already proven her support for the Ancient tradition.
