CCP's logic at its best again.

If you didn't received a mail monday 12th,(within 12 hrs of the deadline! god damn thats some fast reading of 50+ applications o.O) then you are not going to play in the Amarr Championship.
We are currently taking bets on how many PL teams are in the tournament 1, 3 or 5?

(answer is 3)

Second bet is how many teams Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris has 1, 3 or 5?

(answer is also 3)

Gotta love unlogical picking of teams for this. Even from an RP standpoint why take a group of people with no history of tournament experience over someone with? After all you want to win and become the new emperor / empress no?

also from another RP standpoint, wouldn't it be logical that if an heir had picked a team from one alliance that another heir would NOT pick from the same alliance as their champions?

Since my Reddit account has been banned I have decided to take this message to the Eve forums :)

Another addition isn't it troubling that CCP ordered all the captains to keep this information a secret & it already being out of the bag within 24hrs? :D
Shouldn't there from an RP standpoint be repercussions for them breaking their promises to the heirs of keeping the details of their acceptance away from the public?
After all they did break a "loyal" promise!? Is this the sort of unsavory people the Heirs of the Amarian Empire wish to fight for them!? Who is to say there will not be collusion between the teams when they can't even keep it quiet that they were selected?

If this is the case then I guess CCP has just been super lazy and rolled a dice for the people getting spots.

Clearly not thought it through properly

You should definitely make a bet!

I'd say the opposite. Why would an heir take a group of mercenaries with no history of supporting Amarr ever over people who have proven loyalty to the Empire and the house? There is more at stake than just victory, there is also reputation and honor of the house to consider, and those outlive any one emperor.

Only if that alliance has a clear history of supporting one house in particular.

The heirs are looking for people who stand not only as warriors, but also as symbols of the house. A dishonorable choice implies a dishonorable house, and would stain the house's reputation. It's a scale, and combat ability is only one half of it. It is balanced against the political benefits or ramifications of the candidate. Some houses might put more weight on the combat ability, while others on the political factors.

So you're telling me that if you were the heir of a massive kingdom, & you had to chose a champion. You would choose a random loyal peasant over the knight known throughout the world for his combat capability etc. ?

Well in case you didn't know there is a list of all the captains already made since monday afternoon.

I have chosen not to release it here out of respect for their privacy untill CCP does their release, but clearly the picking process is a joke when 2 alliances can get a combined 6 teams in.

Some ppl recived mails after 24h. If CCP dont care about RF this would be hilarious, because I thought its what you need to do. Next time i also just link my pvp videos.

I will wait until its official. But if this comes out. I'm so mad.

No, I would choose a loyal knight known for their combat capability. Not an untrained peasant, and not a disloyal mercenary.

Again, there's a balance between skill (which is determined by, among other things, the pvp videos included in the application) and political validity (determined partially by the argument made in the app and partially by proven track record). Some houses favor skill more than politics, others favor politics more than skill.

Well I essentially posted the initial post there, then linked it to a friend. Within 1 minute the post, when clicked on, said "removed".

I tried again like 30 min later and saw the post go the top of the new page, had like 20 views within 2-3 minutes, then again 1-2 min later it again said "removed", and after that I tried posting it another time & it came up with an error that I haven't saved, but it essentially allowed me to post, but it never went out, & nobody else could see the post online even if I sent them the link.

I have messaged all the moderators of the Eve reddit, & haven't gotten any responses yet.

According to the recent announcement, it appears all 3 of your options were incorrect. The correct answer, as it turns out, appears to be four.

Congrats to all the captains who got picked. Looks like a good, varied field of people to me.

If you bothered reading, you'd know that it's 4 teams from PIE, not PL.
