Battleships in EVE suffer from the same problem that real world battleships suffered from; they were too easily killed by smaller, faster, cheaper vessels and everything that they were good at for the cost carriers just did better.

Hence why they were retired.

What I think battleships role should be primarily be is combating carriers, dreadnoughts and static emplacements.
