ISK Scams Involving Fake API's Banned

Hi C&P,

Just in case you guys don't reddit, ISK doubling scams etc involving fabricated/fake APIs are now considered an offense as of today.

Player 1: "I've got an API that updates, so that makes me legit!.. look go to this completely unbelievable link that shows it."

Player 2: "I sent you isk and it hasn't shown up"

Player 1: "It takes 3 hours to update.. Thats kinda in my post Brah! come back later."

Player 2: "Hey, its been 3 1/2 hours now.. and it still isnt on there.. plus you never sent me my isk! and what the hell is "brah"?"

Player 1: "Listen man, it'll update ok!.. and Brah is a cool word that only non-posers know! poser!"

Player 2: "You scamming P.O.S! I see it on there.. the isk I sent you and now youre telling people that you sent me isk back!"

Player 1: "Brah.... I did send it! It takes 3 hours.. jeesh."

Player 2: "WTF???! man?! that doesn't even make sense!"

Player 1: "Neither does a guy giving away his isk for free.. BRAH!"

Player 2: "Oh.....IdeaIdeaIdea"

CCP, if you want me to quit, please just send me an EVEmail.

No, I dont scam (at least not with that) but the reason EVE has lasted so long is because people LIKE the fact that scamming is allowed.

Come on guys, you are killing your own game. Every one of these pointless nerfs is making the game lose some of the luster that made it great. And for what? A carebear who was stupid enough to fall for an "API VERIFIED ISK DOUBLER"?? So we can keep his sub until he reaches the point where he is running level 4 missions in a Golem in highsec, and quits, because he is now bored playing ISK grider online?

Stop the carnage! Elite Dangerous is looking more attractive each day... maybe I need to brush up on my flying skills.

This one is legit. Quite honestly claim it must be a bug go ticket CCP it would still be around. It's probably the difference in keeping a coder on staff or firing him to add another complaints guy

The list of banned activities in this game is still miniscule by any measure.
This will simply weed out a few of the talentless, script-kiddy Jita spammers.
Scams worth bragging about appear to remain just fine.

I never said nor suggested otherwise.
If banning this sort of scam reduces some of the unnecessary workload for CCP, that's A Good Thing(tm).

The glorious scams, the true Oceans 11 or Grifter style heists and long-con jobs are still all perfectly fine and dandy.

You gonna say with a straight face that ccp's ticket handling and petition and customer service are freaking top notch and very time/resource consuming??

Any ticket that comes in with "api verified" in text, have auto reply of "Dude ypur client isnt bugged. You got scammed. Also our logs show nothing but you being legally scammed."

Boom fixed.

Lol like removing this is really gonna save ccp freaking meaningful money and resources. ... sure....

Heh I was just talking with a friend earlier this evening about the number of people that claim to be recording or taking screenshots during a certain event. I'm a different breed though man... I really enjoy ganking an it's the most isk I've ever made doing something this fun, but I can and will adapt or move on. I have a long list of other things I want to do in eve, so I'm just milking my current cow till the tit is dry.

I see a lot of self-entitled people that cry about nerfs and changes and I just laugh. If I ever get to a point where I'm all out of fun or am a bitter vet, then I'm out. Too many only think about their small bubble or activity they live in to see a larger picture of why CCP may be doing something. Unfortunately a large part of those people are the content creators that just get upset when CCP nerfs something.

In all fairness, they're banning the crap that discredits their own api in the eyes of new / dumb players and gives the gm's headaches,
not much more.

It's a qol change for the gms really with the added bonus that the spammers will now have to actually use whit and confidence rather than just going "look api, I no lies , double all de isks".

CCP has been making gains on that end in the past few months. This is probably part of that endeavor. Also, I'm suprised this is still letting me post as I think my account is inactive now.

I'm not really a content creator, but yeah I do get pissed when needs come down the chain becuase I like the atmosphere EVE previously had. Watching idiots get scammed was part of that, and now that we have given the crybears an inch, they want an AU.

I'm sorry but I don't buy the qol aspect of this. When I see it, I see some guy who threatened to quit over it and now its banned. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe I'm just like you described, sick of nerfs.

If their workload is so bad they could just do what they do whenever I file support tickets and just close them with no response. Problem solved, no need to nerf scam-spammers. Jita would be so lonely without them.

its not really workload its the fact people are saying the game is broken because the scammers are saying its an api issue, its just removing the problem, you cant impersonate a ccp employee so why should you be able to fake api data then blame ccp
