So... I've taken a very long leave of absence from EVE. Probably about 1 1/2 years now. I've returned to a corporation in ruins and a lot of changes. Changes that really hurt my feelings.

Corporations now having the ability to stop Awoxing is a big one. I thought thats why a lot of people liked EVE in the first place. It was the joining line between reality and EVE. It brought a sense of paranoia to the CEO of a corporation and forced you to treat the recruitment process with the utmost care. I would say that now people will just fill a corporation with alts and pass it off as a mission running corp.. then awox their new recruits. The Awoxing CEO as it were. However, that isn't anything new.

The second change I realized is the scanning system sucks. I miss the old one.

The third thing I noticed, is that the amount of EVE players has drastically dropped. This is becoming a carebear's paradise and I believe this is why.

Lastly I've noticed a huge shift in Null Sov.

As the crime and punishment section has always been my favorite, I find that writing here only makes sense. It will allow like-minded individuals to answer me. My question is this. What is still good about EVE?

Well it turns out that beating the poo out of RvB is an incredible source of tears and killmails.

That's pretty good.

Hasn't really dropped, just missing a lot of IS Boxer alts is all.

However.

Since you have been out of the loop, another reason why you don't see the numbers of login's that you used too is due to the following:

Elite Dangerous.

World Of Warships.

Armored Warfare (now in open beta).

And, of course, the 5 million pound gorilla in the room,

FALLOUT FOUR.

As an aside, if you think it's truly a bear's paradise.......fly a freighter thru Uedama on a Friday night and tell us what happens.

Bear

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

Chribba is the Chuck Norris of EVE.

You are sadly correct. Every few months something new comes out to make New Eden less dangerous. While I personally never tried awoxing, I enjoyed the danger it brought to the game. It's getting to the point I don't really know how much longer I'll stick around, and bad actually planned a hiatus before joining my current corp the the request of a buddy. The changes don't really affect my personal gameplay, but it has served to set the bears on a pedestal and assure them their subs matter more than the gameplay.

While i do get your point Im not sure what connection awoxing has to reality unless you are suggesting real world CEO's are paranoid about hiring peopke planning to kill them.

Any real world entity performs background checks commensurate with the sensitivity of the job position you are hired for, from a fry cook at McDonalds to a nuclear missile silo operator.

It's not the same thing, but it did add a vast amount of depth to the recruitment process, and an impressive amount of tools to work with while conducting background checks.

On the upside, it has brought about more relaxed/lazy API checks, opening the door for more corp thieves.

@ Thermal Damage - I know corp thievery pretty well. Its a pretty funny thing when a player (who shall remain nameless) Joins a corporation under false pretenses and then un-anchors their pos and steals not only the modules within their storage but the POS, the POS modules, ect. That, I have seen once. It was as if I was there seeing it with my own eyes.TwistedPirateTwisted

@ Leto Thule - Anyhow, yes Leto you are correct in what you've said. I am not talking about a CEO being paranoid because they wish not to be killed, however because they do not want to entrust a specific job title to a person and then have it be harmful to them or their corporation. Im not sure what the other guy was going on about Roll. Im pretty sure he/she was just trolling Shocked.

@ Mike Adoulin - I cant say that its all bots as you've pointed out. This is due to my friends list which included some pretty influential corp/alliance leaders becoming rather dead. I only make the assumption that people have stopped playing in great numbers when I see that caliber of player quit. A lot of people seem to have decided to find other games. Good people Sad

As for Uedama.. I dont see forming up 50 destroyers and ganking a freighter to be all that non-carebearish. Its not exactly a hard thing to do after all. It has also been around for a very long time. I myself used to gank haulers with my trusty tornado or a team of dessies and have an alt on pickup. It's really not that impressive and/or great. Plus in my personal opinion it realistically just over inflates the killboards. what's less carebearish is purposely using a meager ship in an awox. My personal favorite was killing battleships with a harpy. It takes about 10 minutes or so.. but the fun part is having them on teamspeak with you while you kill their battleship with a frigate.

@ Vimsy Vortis - nah joining RvB and then pod killing everyone in the engagement is an incredible source of tears. I've been banned for years on a number of alts for just that lmao.

Aye, mate. I was just trying to come up with a "real world" reason for him. Because EVE is real.

They are so goddamned terrified of being podkilled it's ridiculous. And most of them barely have a few hundred million in implants!

I have always wanted to join RvB, get an "HONORABLE SPACE COMBAT" battle happening, then smartbomb both sides.

Years ago Dark logged in and warped to his tower. There was nothing there. Nothing. Nothing at all. I don't want to dredge up a lot of painful memories for the lad, but there were petitions and investigations and it was a whole thing (keep in mind this was back when eve was pretty new, so "My tower is gone!" had a lot more interest than it would today.

We ended up w/ a GM on comms getting to the bottom of the mystery. The whole thing was pretty funny. Funny thing is (Leto) the whole Dark Renegade for hacky sac of the decade started over him not giving a guy a carrier he owed them. It was a little different - it was a chimmy not a thanny, and a carrier was a much bigger deal back then, but still.....

I think the official GM response to Dark was something like "We regret the loss of your POS, though we can not disclose the mechanics involved, it was removed through normal game play" or something to that effect. I'm sure Dark still has a copy of it somewhere.

Dark - Cory still wants his chimera. I'll accept it on his behalf. He's back in corp as of a few weeks ago. Tim's coming back also. These may be exciting times for you (again).
