Scanning implants question

I'm making a super probing clone. I want to know which is "better" to have in implant slot 6.

Mid-Grade Virtue Omega (Extra 25% boost to the boosts from my Mid-Grade Virtue set) - Scan Strength

or

Poteque 'Prospector" Astrometric Pinpointing AP-610 - 10% reduction in scan deviation.

I'm thinking that with more probe strength, deviation will be less of an issue anyways. Am I wrong? How important is it to lower scan deviation anyways?

Yeah, if you can put down the money for a complete Virtue-set, the Omega is clearly superior. Take the AP-series only if for some reason you don't use a full Virtue-set (because of money, most likely) or for some standard exploration-clone. If you're concentrating on making a super-prober, take the Omega.

In my case, I like to take a mid-grade Halo-set and combine it with a full range of Poteque-exploration implants. That clone isn't really meant to concentrate on probing alone, of course.

This might sound silly but how tiny does a signature have to be to make the implants have merrit?

I hope your not talking PvE :p
The implants help with speed! You can scan pretty much anything short of an anti-probe Booster with just skills and a probe ship, but you'll do it a LOT faster with the implants (dont need to get the Di so small).

No Worries

Irrelevant. Not your comment I mean the signature size question.
Since the re-balance of the scan system when they made it stupid easy for all practical purposes any player with any equipment and any skill level can lock all signatures in the game. For players scanning for signatures, anoms etc the ONLY advantage to the expensive implants is the time required to lock a signature.

On the other hand if you are going into the search for ships to kill side(combat scanning) then the implants will have a huge affect.
In this area of scanning there are a number of ships / fits that are not cloaked that will require max skills and the best implant sets to be able to lock them. That and every second lost to the scan process is that much greater chance your target has to get away.

Oh I see. The only thing I knew about them is that we have them in the game. My slot 10 is currently occupied by a +3% weapon upgrades so some fits aren't as tight.

I haven't thought about this. Cheers, mate.
