I have read about how corp thieves will try to become the hauler for a corp. Im looking for a guide which explains this (so i can guard against it) but Im having trouble finding it.

I'll be happy to help, should you decide to post with your main.

I did mistake the OP for Sabriz and was wondering about the question. I need to pay better attention.

You need to use every new recruit like they are a sweat shop worker then never give them anything, make them sleep in the garage, preferably with the car running and door closed. This will cease your corp thief problems.

Ah, my apologies. Seeing npc corped OP's asking about corp questions threw me off.

Anyhow, its easy, and there are a number of ways to keep your things in your possession.

1) Use a reputable hauler. Red/black frog is just one example.
2) Haul your own stuff. Use a scout, and make multiple trips to keep your gank-o-meter in a good place.
3) Use collateral. Make sure to make the amount slightly higher than the actual value. This way if the thief does strike, he is paying you above market value and you are robbing him instead.

Lastly...

Never, for any reason, make another player a director. Roles can be tailored to all situations, so its never, ever required. Don't do it.

Edit: Make sure you use undock AND dock bookmarks. Most gankers will be able to tell you are moving if they see lots of corp haulers come and go from the same spots. That 4 seconds it takes to dock or align is more than enough time to alpha a hauler.

The best way to understand the mind of the thief, is to become the thief.

Pfft. That's merely a variation of the namby pamby practice of setting a thief to catch a thief.

The traditional 'Set a deep hole with spring-loaded sides, tripwires, whirling knife blades driven by water power, broken glass and scorpions, to catch a thief.’ is my preference.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

If you do need a director, it's a good idea to take all the shares from the corp. That way another director can't out you and still everything from and you're corp name

The last one I read looked something like this:
Join the corp (ideally with a clean looking API, but good marks don't check).
Stay in it for a bit, exhibiting your knowledge and helpfulness. Arrange to have mentioned that you can fly a jump freighter.
Have some crisis provoke itself, like a wardec.
Evolve some plan involving moving to low or null and joining some big PvP alliance.
Try and have someone else propose the idea of you moving all the members' stuff in your jump freighter.
Get all the stuff contracted to you.
Profit.

You left out a crucial part. After mentioning you can fly it, also mention you dont actually own one. That way corp buys it, and you keep that as well.
