Like I said in my tweet that's already been linked, it seems to work just fine in Linux with just `winetricks vcrun2013`. Make sure you've got a winetricks new enough to have that as an option, it seems to be new as of version 2015-08-26. You still need to copy settings of course, but the same solution from Windows installs should work.

Funtoo, kernel 4.1.7-hardened-r1
Wine 1.7.51, Windows XP mode

Interestingly enough, it seems to work in XP mode, but not 7. I might investigate that more at some point, but :effort:

Can you change the windows system tray icon so it's distinct from the main client? Now that it's actually useful to leave the launcher open while playing the game it would be nice to be able to quickly see which is your eve client(s) and which is the launcher.

Other than that works really well. Took me a second to find the new settings directory but once I copy/pasted the old settings file it worked like a charm. Speaking of, it would be a great feature if when you started the launcher for the first time it asked you if you wanted to copy your old settings file from your TQ install.

Some minor UI bugs with if you have too many accounts for the size of the window (http://i.imgur.com/OqcC11z.png) but it seems just to be a missing slider.

From somebody that is absolutely non tech savvy, Computers really are my bane, so please bare with me, reading from the blog I am under the impression that I would be able to download/use the test server(s) from the one launcher alongside my Tranquillity instance.
Is this correct ?

I have never before, despite wanting too, attempted to download the test server features, the process genuinely confuses me, to be able to at last use such features would be a tremendous boon for the likes of myself.

This is correct. You will be able to log on to test-servers with ease.

Hi Folks:

I run EVE on LInux under Wine (v1.7.50, set to Windows 7 emulation). I installed the new launcher and it crashed immediately upon running.

I can provide details and a stack trace in case any Dev is interested. I understand an emulated environment is certainly not your first concern!

You are right, technically we don't support Linux, but I'll see what I can do. Hopefully we'll sort this out at least before going out of beta.

Is there a particular way you would want me to send the traces/data?

So am I understanding correctly that game settings like window locations and such are now all tied to the launcher and get saved by the launcher?

Just my two pence, My previous install with the old launcher was around 500 Meg or so due to not needing many files etc (I don't leave the station) using the new launcher its 2.32GB. Now space is not an issue but I just want to know why is downloaded over 1.8GB of extra data that I didn't need before?

Update - Got a response from Snorlax on twitter, its Test server stuff and all that, still not happy about the extra size used but Meh it is what it is

Could the actual game clients have character portrait as an icon?

Copying the old settings in the new folder did the trick for me.

We are talking about the ones in %localappdata%\CCP\eve

Where did you copy the folder too?

Yes there was a new folder called c_evecache_tq_87.237.38.200

I just copyed my old settings folder in there.

Edit

Might require you to launch a client once so it creates that folder. Same for the other presets it creats the coressponding settings folder once you launch a client with that preset for the first time

Looks nice, and it is really fast for me on Windows 10.
I don't like the Add Account button, is too big and white ..in your face.. while the blue Play button fades away in the background..

PS: 400mb for a launcher, when i was young that was the size for a full game. Lol

Can someone please clarify which settings the blog refers to. Are these launcher settings? Game settings (overview, window positions etc). or........???

The settings drop-down is for client settings. I.e. channels, overview, etc.

Maybe clicking the account line (or the area around account name) could start the client? Or would you just launch it accidentally?

It doesn't appear to touch the old settings, so you can test the new launcher still. Also you can manually copy old settings the new folders to play around with those too.

well if thats the case and existing settings are unable to be edited in anyway by this new launcher, then i will probably give it a try later, thanks.

I tried running the new launcher 'exe' from the current Eve installation folder.... got an error message saying "No Disk in Drive". I haven't seen this issue reported yet....

Yes there was a new folder called c_evecache_tq_87.237.38.200

Can confirm this works.

For anyone else looking to copy over window locations and settings for all accounts do the following

You will first need to load up the launcher and log in with one account so the folder listed below is created

Go to

%localappdata%\CCP\eve

Go into the Folder for me is called d_eve_tranquility (Check the folder called settings you will know if this is the correct one because it will contain core_char_xxxxxx

Copy the folders Cache & Settings folders into X_eve_cache_TQ_87.237.38.200 (Removing the one currently stored in there)

This is ace, really brings EVE up to par with other games, especially in terms of first impressions.

Just like to say that absolutely no problems, detected my shared cache and got everything up and running smoother than the old launcher does. Running Windows 10.

I'm really enjoying it, so far! I'm getting the red scrollbar issue, as well, but fortunately the launcher appears to remember the last window size settings and location, so expanding it fixes that. Remembering the position also makes up for not being able to dock it.

The big thing I notice is that the "Logout" buttonis right next to the "Play" button. Is there any way that a bit more distance could be put between them? Perhaps move the Play button next to the multi-launch checkbox?
