Microsoft Enterprise Licensing

Would anyone here have experience with Microsoft's maze of licencing options, methods and routes as concerns their Enterprise offerings?

I'm interested in determining the pricing of Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise.

As far as this question is concerned i'm not a corporate entity. In theory I may have academic ties / alumni status.

I am, well aware that yes, there are .... lol .. Pirate Faction Releases of Win10 Enterprise RTM torrents out there. Yet for the purposes of my question here, after spending an hour on the phone with MS's Retail and Volume Licensing people i'm still left a bit curious. Particularly as regards the Academic routes of acquisition.

I'm generally aware that it's commonly sold in a minimum of 5 individual licenses. Equally that MS is prone to having Academic offerings and deals depending on the school that offers it. But that's about as far as I've been able to suss out.

In brief, - what is the best way to buy only 1 genuine, legitimate copy of Windows 10 Enterprise?

Edit:

While you can't buy Enterprise directly from MS in single licenses, it seems genuine re-sellers make this option possible.

If you know someone that has a MSDN subscription, you can get a legit copy of Windows 10 Enterprise from here.

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/downloads/hh442898.aspx

Not sure why you would want Windows 10 Enterprise though? If you are planning a server, just go with a hypervisor instead like ESXi, Xen or Proxmox.

It's a matter of (for all intents and purposes), wanting a future upgrade option that offers complete control of my computer and its OS.

I'm happy to continue running Linux on the PC and my Amiga 3000 for personal computing on a daily basis. But having a Windows machine for general use as well is nice. The year 2020 and W7's EoL, was starting to look a little bleak. W10 Enterprise for the most part brings explicit control options and features the other offerings do not. ~ 4-500$ for Enterprise Is a lot less expensive than "free".

And then you have the response to safedisc/securom being terminated in W10. The effect impairing people who legitimately purchased games.

Meanwhile if you DL'd a cracked torrent of said games with the DRM disabled? It'll work on a modern computer :) Sometimes the silly short term choices these companies make, which only impair genuine customers who otherwise enjoyed the product they picked up at a brick and mortar shop are just ... special.
