This is all new to me See and Pee, so go easy plox :)

Anyway, one of my merry band has had a killright against him put up for offer for 50m, and my understanding (probably incorrect) is that whoever pays that would then activate it, thereby allowing all in the vicinity to attack for a 15 minute window.

Obviously this is fairly inconvenient for my operations at present!

My question is - is it possible for a non-connected alt to somehow pay the 50m, activate the KR while my guy is safely tucked up, and wait out the 15 minute window?

Yes, it's a bit lame, but I have space bucks riding on him being able to move around highsec safely!

My old buddy's name Is Gorki Andropov

He's asking to be let off so he can play nice, but he knows what the denizens of See and Pee are like, and - coupled with his naivete regarding this mechanism - is quite expecting a nasty surprise to be pulled Big smile

Yes, as long as the killright has been set to available to all, anyone can activate it.

Thanks guys, yes - it said it has been made available to all. I tried right clicking on him with an alt to see if there was some way of activating it, but I couldn't see anything. I'm feeling quite lost! :)

You click on them in the overview, the "selected item" box that shows their ship and name will have a little crosshair in it.

Side note: That one is a bit too expensive to use as bait, but lower value kill rights are very useful for setting traps. Just activate and wait. Blink

Very interesting idea Loyd, thanks for the pointer!

So how would you go about doing that - get an alt to jettison a mobile structure, you shoot it, and your alt sells it off for a low, low price?

Oh I was referring to having them already and using them instead of just shedding them with an alt . If you want to make yourself suspect just need to grab something out of a can or shoot an MTU.

Again, something I didn't know - it's back to school for me, which is great - thanks Ralph! I will make sure that he understands that one of his precious Velators has to bite the dust :)

It can be useful to have a jump clone in Jita 4-4 and a zero dock bookmark off said 4-4.

Then, all you need do is undock in something reasonably juicy looking (domis, orcas or typhoons work well for this) then undock without touching any controls, activating mods etc. The undock invulnerability timer is your friend here, as 4-4 is so busy that many people will activate your killright before they check if you are lockable. Once you go suspect, dock up and then undock in a noob ship. Let someone kill you then warp your pod out. KR gone, problem solved.

Even better, use the zero dock bookmark to get back in station while the limited engagement timer is still active and then undock something pvp fitted and kill the person who shot your noob ship. If you time it right, your suspect flag will be gone but the limited engagement timer will still be active.

Even better still, shoot at a friend or alt to earn the killright against you, then repeat the above steps and cash in when someone activates it.

Have fun :)

Just have you friend undock in a Velator. Activate kill right, destroy the ship, he warps off, kill right gone.

Warp around high sec in something moderately pricy, especially near trade hubs, and someone is bound to activate the kill right. Do it smartly and they can't catch you, you can then reship to a rookie ship and get blown up.

If you want to deny someone the pleasure of killing your rookie ship, you could always have rats kill you instead while the suspect timer from the kill right is active. Warp to a belt, anom or mission. This will clear the KR as well.
