Some of you may remember me from my first posts when I started this hobby years ago:

Astro 2011

Despite taking many breaks from EVE, I never really stopped doing AP. Here are some more recent images:

Lagoon (right) and Trifid (left)

Elephant's Trunk in Narrowband (work in progress)

Fish Head in Hydrogen-Alpha

Heart Nebula in Hydrogen-Alpha

Eagle Nebula

Feel free to ask any questions. I hope you enjoy them. I'll post more as they come in.

Sure.

Stick a camera to the back end of a telescope connected to an electronic mount. Do manual exposures on a target for a certain number of minutes. Keep repeating the exposures until you have multiple frames. Use a special program to combine them and then touch them up with Photoshop.

The more frames you take of an object, the greater the detail. Here's an example of one nebula:

This is one single 5 minute exposure

Same object, but 10 exposures each at 5 minutes and all stacked together

There's a lot more that goes into doing this but that's the general idea.
