Some idiot just made a massive speculation on Mexallon

Posting here so people can laugh at me if I am wrong.

The person that bought every unit of Mexallon in Jita priced from 54 to 64 ISK per unit is going to burn, and it will be glorious.

The Mex buyup was at a price higher than the Mex price when supercap warfare was hegemonic in 0.0 AND nullsec needed shitloads of Mex imported though.

Mex had been in the low 40s.... I think this was about 6 months ago then jumped to the low 50s. Perhaps this is the next step as people shifted to mining zy and mega due to the changes put in a while back?

My analysis of those changes were that they had no direct impact on highsec mining, but decreased the local mexallon shortfall in null.

After missing the Zyd/Mega opportunity I was expecting the big changes to be Morphite 6600 to 11000 and Mex 54 to 36.

Fundamentals haven't changed since then. I underestimated Morphite's rise a bit, but see no reason for Mex to be where it is.

I concur, it will probably be dead money at best.

I wonder if this move is similar to the one 3 weeks ago when isogen spiked to 160 or so in jita. This according to what eve central said at the time. I did not get in game and see it for myself to verify the validity.

There's still serious work going into pushing it up.

I just can't see any logical alliance demand for a trillion ISK worth of Mex atm, and can't see why anyone else would have bought so much

Unless it is part of other plans involving not selling the material itself but something it is used for. Much like Nocxium a time ago.

Oh, I thought of that.

The thing that's most mex heavy of everything I can think of is armor plates.

Now tech 2 armor plates are in reasonable demand, and Mex is a big part of their build cost (IIRC, 35-40%). But they aren't in massive demand.

The new dev blog did say that capital ships are gonna be relevant again. They're probably gonna have a big role in destroying citadels and player built stargates..

Maybe he's buying up the minerals before the patch hits and everybody starts building supers.

citadels might require a fuckton of capital parts. and capital parts need lots of mex.

i'll wait for the devblog regarding citadel manufacturing before making a move though. and the lesson i learned from freighter rigs means that it's going to be a small one.

i'll probably cash out within 24 hours of the initial spike.

But you always can slowly cash in on rookie system quick sales from "just a game folks".

Doesnt matter you say it out loud, it remains the best source of cheap minerals ever.

I'm wondering if someone is making a bet on this fact. I swear I saw Jita isogen at 150 again earlier today.

You could well wind up eating your words if Citadels require bulk Mex.

If the person bought it up on a guess that Citadels are Mex heavy, then they are making a big gamble that is low-EV.

If they bought it up on insider knowledge that Citadels are Mex heavy - well it won't be the first time CCP have disciplined a CSM member over insider trading.

Regardless, mex supply is higher now than it was in the apex force days, and I do not expect demand for citadels to match the demand for supercarriers back then.

I would say that someone might be buying up minerals ahead of capital changes.

I bought it all up, shipped it through a worm hole and made a small profit on it. No big scheme or anything, just using eve central trader's tool

If the dude had 1 trilion ISK to speculate with in the first place he actually might be not that bad at making ISK.

Mex is being sold in the forsaken systems with laid orders by 45 and being bought on Jita for 60. That is ~15% insta profit given that some of those systems are just couple jumps away in Lonetrek.

Isogen can be found not far from there being sold by 90. Nocxium is getting up to 520 around and being sold as low as 450 in systems not far from the hubs.

The only one I see moving very slow is Megacyte and upwards. And Trit and Pyerite are the same lame margins as always.

No dubt people are trying to convey a trend.
