Windows stop responding

The windows in EVE sometimes stop responding when I'm docked and in the captain's cabin. Windows like Cargohold and Items don't react and the chat window does the same. The maximize/minimize and close buttons disappear and the windows become completely useless. All I can do is move my character about in the cabin.

Is there any known workaround?
