Essentially what you're saying is it's not a fair system. But when has EVE ever been fair? Scams? Asymmetrical combat? Non-consensual PVP?

I'm just doing the anthropological thing. I'm not on any side of the fence on this one.

The masses are fine with EVE not being fair when it is player versus player. When the company itself gets involved, the masses start to see inequity and favouritism. They start seeing aspects of T20 (even when the comparison is completely irrational.)

I think it's fantastic that CCP mucks it up with their customers like they do. I want them to continue. I don't want to see them roasted over the spit for this sort of interaction, because it will discourage them from such interaction in the future.

It might be fake money, but it's not free fake money. We still have to earn it.

Yep, that pretty much says it all.

This is why you should refrain from commenting. You have no frame of reference for the words "because it's fun". Your motivations are purely driven by imaginary profit.
Actually, I'm not bothering because of the first rule of EVE. Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. I have expensive stuff to buy soon, and can't afford to be losing a bunch of ships right now, with no return.

People are misinterpreting the post. Read my comment above for clarification.

I assume you mean the post where you say you think what they are doing is fine, that you have no problem with it.

The one that came after calling them naïve, and saying they should come up with a "fair" system like a lottery if they don't want people whining at them.

The term passive/aggressive comes to mind.

These events will be going on in various systems from time to time, the opportunity for the whiners to get organized and participate is there. People in most games would relish the chance to go up against the developers, and in truth most EVE players do.

So no, nobody is buying your innocent act. If you are going to do nothing but post snide comments and try to pretend your intent is simply to offer "helpful" suggestions, expect to get called on it.

What is this crap?

PL lost 20+ ships and could not beat the CCP Fleet initially (PL warped off field)

Only when 2 fleets dogpiled on CCP the tide turned and ultimately most of the CCP ships selfdestructed (the time they had reserved for the event was over - I guess they expected to get wtfpwned faster but didn't).

PL (and anyone else) got roughly nothing as the single "loot" ship wreck got popped. Nobody got anything out of it.

The event was done for fun. If you are too noob/socially inept to participate in large scale fleets, watch eve radio streams. These events are not "ISK pinatas". If you want ISK, go run missions or incursions, do not whine about some insignificantly small amounts of loot.

The initial fight was very challenging and we exchanged blows back and forth pretty evenly but had a hard time breaking their tank on a consistent basis. After running low on ammo/booster charges we decided to regroup and get our 20 or so reinforcement fleet in to help. At the same time NCdot was on the way to engage with their own abaddon fleet. This is where my blackbird popped =(

Crap loot, but absolutely AMAZING fight.

I'm not sure why CCP seems surprised over the outrage and whining that has resulted from their loot fleets. Seems the inevitable outcome to me. Any person that doesn't feel they have the skillpoints, the PvP skills, the luck of the draw (on looting ships fast enough) or the social network to form an effective enough fleet is going to scream bloody murder. They're going to feel screwed out of the prizes.

I'm not participating at all in the loot fleet battles. But I'm not crying about them either. To the people that participate go the spoils. I'm not participating because I figure I'll end up losing far more than gaining. Plus, if I did participate and didn't get any loot, I'd feel peeved about the events (just like the people who are peeved but not participating.) So, I'm not participating, I'm not feeling annoyed. It's as easy as that.

Watching from the sidelines, reading all the rage and tears on the forums, it seems to me that CCP is a tad surprised at the vehemence of the responses, as if they didn't quite anticipate the outrage. That's really quite amusing. Can they really be that naïve?

If CCP wanted to limit the outrage, create a fairer system where everyone had a chance at loot, they would have run a lottery. "Hey, everyone, we're giving away 75 PLEX. We'll randomly raffle them off to any non-trial account created and paid for before December 07 2011." Boom! Who the heck can b*tch and moan about that? (I'm sure a couple people would find a way "This favours people with multiple accounts! Waugh!", but far fewer whiners overall.)

When you want to limit whining, think socialism. (In their real lives, Americans treat socialism like it's a plague rat, but they ****ing love it in their MMOs.)

You seem somewhat ill informed as to how current game mechanics clearly sway these "Loot Fleets" in favour of the larger ingame entities.

Bigot much?

I know lots of Americans that don't want socialism in any part of their lives. I think its pretty presumptuous of you to assume it's just the Americans and all Americans whining about it in MMOs.

But thank you for reinforcing my beliefs regarding the worth of any average idiot with an opinion and a blog on the internet.

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

It's funnier when the whining is coming from Americans. "Things aren't fair! The rich are just getting richer!" Duh. This is the guiding principle of your nation. You should be thrilled there's a game to mirror those values.

Not to mention the current president is a socialist and there are many likeminded hipsters out there. It's best to stay away from generalizations in general.

Back when I was in the US Coast Guard we actually had a crewmember who was an E3 (Seaman) with last name Stanes. Good time good times. Over the PA, "Seaman Stanes report to laundry. Seaman Stanes report to laundry." Ah the chuckles we did have.
