However it's in very large fleets that the Drake truly shines in PVP, at the present time of this writing reported in the 2010 QEN as the overwhelmingly most popular combat ship in EVE. With logistical, e-war and tackling roles handled by other ships, the Drake is free to concentrate all of its fitting slots on tanking damage, with players of high skill able to get a buffer tank of over 120k EHP and 70% or better resists across the board using no faction, plex or officer modules.

Real Drake Pilots fly with a hole in their EM

Properly tanked Drake Fit:

7 HML II - Cal Navy Scourge loaded as default

3 LSE II
3 Invuln II

2 BCU II
1 Power Diag II
1 Internal force field array

3 Med core defense field extender I

1 - KMB 50 ( 3% CPU) -needed
1 - ZMH 1000 ( 3% HML damage)
1 - ZMA 100 ( 3% decreased factor of enemy sig radius)
1 - ZMS 100 (3% decreased factor enemy velocity)
1 - ZMM 100 (3% Missile ROF increase)

5 Warrior II

149,000 EHP
471 DPS w/ drones

You can save 10 mil on the damage control and fit Psuedo-electron and drop EHP tp 147,000.
Or you can go the other way and fit Med core defence IIs on it and kick it up to 167,000 EHP.

This can't catch anything and it isn't going anywhere, but, that's not it's purpose.Provide proper tackle and support. Will kill any enemy support, eat's frigates, and no matter what is going on, it takes time to clear a bunch of these off the field, while they are destroying enemy support ships.

Park a few Nagas and Rooks with CNCs in support 100 K off, rain down ECM and HML fire while the 425II rails hit the primaries, and after all the enemy support is dead or fled, and your Drakes have finally popped , whats left is the tackled enemy BS on the field , waiting their turn to die like so many Romans trapped at Cannae.

P.S. - This is the Hairy Legged Drake fit, not for the faint of heart.Nanofag fits can be found elsewhere.

I ran into one rather violently yesterday. I didn't think it was possible for a Drake to go from full shields to instapop so quickly. Oops

Bolded a problem. Officer PDS are +5% Shield HP, but CN PDS are actually + 6%.

Now that the crazy expensive has been efficiently handled here is a realistic tanky fleet fit.

Little Pointless I know but good if you have dedicated tackle. 109 EHP.

Typically I roll with aroud 113,000 ehp in my mission running Drake, If I want to pump it up I can exeed 130,000 without difficulty and if I go without a prop mod I can get it up just shy of 163,000. In Combat I roll around 92,000. Thats just T2 stuff and some best name.
