I think a good question for you is, What do you expect to do first? PvE (no real pure PvE exist in this game)? What kind? PvP? What kind?

General answers has been good. But do have in mind, for PvP you will want to be as powerful as you can, obviously. For PvE you just need to reach some benchmarks, "freeing" some train time if you do choose to explore other things.

The Minmatar are kind of hard to train for, many of their ships have mixed weapon systems, the Rifter is usually armor tanked and the Slasher is usually shield. I share the Minmatar love! Way to represent my tribal sister! Big smile

For starting out I'd recommend getting Small Autocannons V and Autocannon Specialization to III and get Minmatar Frigate IV. So many supporting skills you can get to 2 or 3 and you'll be effective really soon. While you are waiting for the one level V skill, the 'Scout' Autocannons are good in the meantime, just a bit costlier.

For solo I've used this:

[Rifter, Lulu]

Damage Control II
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste

1MN Afterburner II
Warp Scrambler II
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I

200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Caldari Navy Nova Rocket
200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S

Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Projectile Burst Aerator I
Barrage S x777
Republic Fleet EMP S x777
Republic Fleet Fusion S x777
Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S x777
Caldari Navy Nova Rocket x177
Nanite Repair Paste x20
