Further to Holy Mother Amalath's post, I can confirm that rescue operations were conducted by Ms Morwen Lagann, Ms Lunarisse Aspenstar and Ms Farel in transport ships. PIE marines involved in the boarding action were lead by Templar Thal Vadam.

I extend my personal condolances to those slaves who lost their lives in this operation due to the unfortunate nature of being forced to have to fire upon structures in order to breach them for rescue operations. I further extend my personal condolances to those slaves harmed, or killed, by the heretic Nauplius during the towers operating lifetime, fortunately short as it was. All rescued slaves are currently receiving medical and psychological support and treatment.

I extend my thanks to all pilots involved in this important operation.

Kid, I've rarely met an Amarrian that would deny their slaves are people. Remember, they believe our enslavement is uplifting to us--the values that a Holder is supposed to embody are noble ones. Whipping, abuse, all this is a corruption of what they're supposed to be doing. That's not to say such practice is unheard of or even uncommon. Even if people turn a blind eye to it, however, in the Amarrian psyche, it's a point of shamefulness.

But no matter how "pure" their aim, in practice, it still involves our freedom being sold away.

From what I've been told, whipping isn't shameful at all. Rather, it's disciplinary, and meant to be used to break down the slave's resistance and will, to make them more likely to simply do as they're told and not voice their own opinions. Making them afraid to speak their minds, even in private, for fear of being reported and put under the lash again... it's a great way to rob their children of the opportunity to ever know their heritage.
