Fleet Warp Changes

Hi Internet Space Pilots,

We’re not releasing the proposed fleet warp changes with the Vanguard release. The implementation of the fleet-based bookmarks is more technically costly that we had hoped. We’re not prepared to release this version of the warp changes without the fleet bookmark system.

Regarding fleet warps, we’re going to look at alternative design solutions. We would like to incentivize players rather than remove existing functionality.
Regarding bookmarks, there are very early plans for a technical redesign. This should lead to many advantages, including (but not limited too) fleet bookmarks.

We appreciate the passionate feedback from the community regarding this issue.

alliance bookmarks sounds nice but when people bm every single location in 50 or more systems everything from tacticals off gates etc to their favourite veldspar mining spots in alliance bookmarks. Things will get crowded to browse through.
Imo Alliance bookmarks should be temporary like for 1-4 days then the server deletes them after a preset amount of time.

I certainly hope you're not going to purge existing player bookmarks with the implementation of a new system Pirate

Would it be possible to be able to share bookmarks in the sense of... coordinates? Without the physical (virtual) item that is.

I was wondering what had happened to this. Thank you for the update. I think you made the right decisions as fleet warping is a much loved and used features and removing its functionality as proposed would have had a minimal impact on bomber wings.

Remove fleet warps entirely.

Instead, allow fleet members to broadcast anything they are able to warp to ( personal bookmarks, probe results, etc) for the rest of the fleet to warp to as well.

This gives us a much higher degree of individual ship control (and people actually playing the game, with the associated possibilities this generates for pilot error or initiative) without many of the issues people complained about in your original proposal.

I'm glad this change is being delayed, if not sidelined... FCs go to a lot of trouble to pre-scout, create bookmarks in important areas and so forth, the notion that they cannot be shared among other pilots is unrealistic - an artificial barrier as it were.

For on-grid warps, I'd like to see something a bit more quirky, a tanky HIC, CS or BLOPs like ship capable of MDJing entire squads up-to 200km away, subject to a slightly longer spool up.. use heat enabled or not to determine how far you go to give its use some flexibility... maybe limit the ship types able to use it.

I'd love to be able to use a, lets say, "catapult drive" to throw ceptors 200km towards a target

Fleet bookmarks ... interesting ... can understand that this is quite complicated to implement as fleets are a non-permanent and volatile entity. My feeling is that the combined benefit of crippling fleet warps and adding fleet bookmarks is not high enough to justify the implementation effort...

... a better approach could be to delegate unique tasks to wings and squads.

Too much to ask for from the individual players. They can't even take squad commander positions on their own until someone tells them that positions are open. It simply doesn't sit with the casual oriented and educated towards casual player anymore to take responsibility for things and check things.

Good that CCP holds back on these changes longer so that a proper solution can be found instead of continuing with releases of half-baked teaser features. That's good to see.

I am really sad that these changes are now being removed. Fleet warp changes were going to be such a great, and healthy thing for this game :(
