Mission pocket size and MJD

I just tried jumping though a gate and waiting for gate cloak to end, hit the MJD and my ship turned about 90ยบ to the left and jumped. Then tried warping to a planet ctrl+space'd and waited for mjd cool down to end. Ship is aimed a little below the poco, and jumped in the direction it was facing landing right below the poco. Flew up along side the poco and as stopped the ship leveled out a bit but the nose was up. as I hit the MJD again it flattened out a little but mostly went in the same direction.

ps I'm an idiot, I used a mach and not the kronos I had in station stupid MJD cooldown timer

@Mr. Mac- thanks for the data point.

@Chainsaw- thank you for running that experiment. Your experience at the gate comes closest to mine. Taking your point about the MJD cool down, I got in a Vargur and tried ctrl-space as well as double clicking in the opposite direction of travel and then ctrl-space stops before using the MJD. This was all done in "regular" space, not in a mission pocket. Each time, the ship flew straight and true in the direction it was pointed.

I tried replicating the U-turn of doom in a mission pocket after all the rats were safely melted, but the Domi flew straight. So this turning phenomenon appears to occur randomly- or at the worst possible time. Roll

Anyway. thanks to everyone for contributing!

one more thing to add. I was in a mission pocket, I picked the spot I wanted to MJD to, and I collided with the beacon with my mjd active and it changed my direction. luckily I landed almost in the spot I wanted. Small things you might not be looking for can bump you.

@Chainsaw- weird the beacon had an effect. According to the Uniwiki MJD entry, objects in the jump path have "no effect and are unaffected." So did you collide with the beacon after the jump?

P.S. I've tried ramming with the MJD with disappointing results (no huge bouncy collision)., but I may have done it wrong.

Steps were: Enter room, Align to target, activate mjd, bump into beacon, jump 100km

I've bumped off beacons just MWDing around. kinda sucks when blitzing dread pirate scarlet and your shot completely misses because you bounced. Lose out on an easy 5mil (or implant if in second room)

and I've tried and seen others try MJD ramming, freaking hard to get right
