Scatter Containers Back!?

Recently, I was explo'ing out in Low/Null, and came across something I hadn't seen since Kronos.... Scatter Containers, two sites of them out near Galentine space in Low.

I went through the recent patch notes & noticed that they only had included a brief quip about "The icon for scatter containers has been updated" and nothing else. Why were they brought back?

The issues with them, by explorers, has not changed. Oh, this can has X pointless loot, a BPC, and X loot that might be worth something. Hack it, and I now have a minor chance to get something that is actually worth the time. It was the old issue of make X isk guaranteed ratting/incursion running, or a chance at making that same X isk from exploring - I think I'll be an idiot and take the chance at isk rather than the guaranteed isk.

The problem lies in the risk-vs-reward.

When you scan down a site, you already have the issue of scanning it down, which requires a certain skill, hacking the can, which requires a certain skill, and being able to get out alive in low/null - which requires skill, but not one that can be trained in game, and now have seen fit to add in the potential of luck in grabbing the right cans from the spew.

When you are ratting, you have the requirement of certain skill in being able to fit a ship which is both trained (skill req's) and untrained (smart fitting), and getting out alive based on in game skills for being able to kill the rats & out-of-game skills in knowing when to gtfo.

So, is this some bug - or have these abominations been brought back?

I think they just updated the brackets for the cans. I don't think they changed how the cans actually work. It's even written that way in the bit you quoted from the patch notes.

Grrr.

It's possible a couple of sites didn't get removed, bug report the exact site if you found one in game.
Otherwise ignore it as a consistency update as an 'in case'

Scatter containers? -_- Fun, but at the same time, not fun since the fact they made survey sites non combatant crashed the market. Hopefully just overlooked or something for special sites.

To quote Lfod Shi

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

Scatter cans aren't meant to scatter now, but I don't think the name was ever changed.

They are also still indicated in Overview Settings I think.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

exploration cans = scatter containers
It's just overview/brackets update.
