WOW! Magnetic 'Wormhole' That Connects Two Regions of Space Has Been Created

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQTc-k3wIYE

Researchers in Spain have created a tiny magnetic wormhole for the first time ever, and they've used it to connect two regions of space so that a magnetic field can travel 'invisibly' between them.

Before you get too excited, this isn't the same as the gravitational wormholes that allows humans to travel rapidly across space in science fiction TV shows and films such as Stargate, Star Trek, and Interstellar, and it's not able to transport matter. But the physicists managed to create a tunnel that allows a magnetic field to disappear at one point, and then reappear at another, which is still a pretty huge deal.

Quantum tunneling has been done by Swiss scientists for about a decade now. Nothing new here.

If you think you've won, think again.

The CODE always wins.

not the same from what i was just reading.
tunnelling is about particles barely moving faster then the speed of light.

Extremely awesome, but would this not be better received and fitting for out of pod?

As somebody with an education in physics, i would argue that quantum tunneling has absolutely nothing to do with things going faster than light. Quantum tunneling is when a particle travels through a barrier that it classically does not have the energy to travel through.

Yep. It's one of the major issues that microchip designers are beginning to face as transistors get smaller and smaller - the chance of electrons tunneling across potential barriers and causing bit errors is becoming significant.

gomlee is probably thinking of quantum teleportation, which is the instantaneous transmission of quantum information across large distances, but this can't be used to transport matter or classical information.

Just make starship from Iron and push it with humans inside thru this. I think they will be ok. Pirate
