You got the reimbursement....be happy about that. Insert joke about the logs show nothing here. Logs actually showed something, and you got the hull back. Walk away content.

You got popped, accept and move on. Someone has your KM....so the f what really here. You will die in eve, accept and move on.

Something about someone not believing you got reimbursed in op? Who cares. If a reply of cool story bro gets your panties in bunch need to loosen up really. Or get thicker skin. I once had a Charon replaced since node went to utter crap. It took a while but I got it. Someone doesn't believe me that that's on them. My life will go on.

Rest of this...tracing salvage from drop? Can you say waste of sql guru's time. I knew you could. This isn't RL law enforcement spending days to find out how the drug kingpin launders millions daily to nail their ass. Or even a smaller scale busting of a car theft/chop shop setup and combing records to nail them and track down what they can to better server the people getting stuff back. Its a game. Lets have the sql guys do more important things really.

you know what? i'm no where near as angry as you are zan.

i can safely assume you know about the "loot logger" contained in the fleet box window? great.
would take anyone about 30 seconds to see the items a fleet member looted and in what quantity (yes, that includes salvage).

on the day ANY pilot loses control over what is going on in game because of a bug/glitch/server problem and takes a loss mail then there are people who have taken advantage of the circumstance and capitalized on it.

some might call that an exploit. i don't call it an exploit. i call it unfortunate.

eve has always favored piracy (in any form). it's the way the game is played.
in the end: the victim has a loss mail and has to replace looted items (which, costs him money).
the killers get: kill mail, loot, salvage and bounty payouts (increasing their wealth).

for the record: i am VERY GRATEFUL for the ships which were replaced.

The only part of this that could/should happen is a note on the KM saying 'Reimbursed due to server fault'.
Player groups do decide admittance & targets based on KB stats, and a shiny loss from a server fault that CCP have agreed happened should be visibly noted as such to avoid negative impact based on the massive meta we have around KB's.

The rest is laughable and shows a total lack of understanding of the Database system that operates.

the first part about km's is 100% true. kudu's to you for posting that.

lack of understanding of the database system? LMAO

quick example of what can happen:

you destroy me.
i drop a caldari navy ballistic control. value? about 100 million.

you have 3 choices: reprocess (why you'd do that is beyond me), use it or sell it.
let's say you sell it. congratulaitons! you're about 100 million richer.
you use the 100 million from your sale to buy a ship and fittings.......now what?
the buyer takes the caldari ballistic control and puts it on his ship.
that ship gets destroyed. the ballistic control is not part of the loot drop.

Problem: how would CCP return something to the original victim if it's been destroyed?

you use the module. your ship gets destroyed. the bcu is destroyed also. same question....how can it be returned to the original victim?

this line of logic can be applied to anything created by the "originating" loss mail.

i don't claim to have all the answers. if you're expecting all the answers, you're going to be disappointed.
i'll leave the "what about" to the CCP programmers and brainstormers to solve any issues regarding secondary impacts.
