★ [EVEsterdam] Looking for ideas, for presentation ★

As I'm lucky enough to be going to EVEsterdam, to do a presentation, and meet up with some of my EVE friends. I wanted to asked the people of MD, if there was any subject they could be interested in, that I covered ?

My last presentation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jytAfRGsjw), was limited to 20mins. This resulted in that it barely got into any depth. This time I have 45mins + 10mins QnA, which gives much more room for depth.

Which is why I'm looking for extra ideas and help in picking subjects.

Here is a few of my ideas :

Market pvp : the dirty secrets.
Market PSY : how numbers are not always just numbers.
Market basics : the first steps to becoming a better trader.
Market histories : anecdotes of trade experiences.

Also - The first has been well received, and I have gotten a lot of positive feedback and mails - Thanks for this.

To be honest I've never had a market "fuckup" before, though I'm thinking hard to come up with one. I've had an almost fuckup, when I first started doing Reactions a few years ago, which could have been really bad.

At that time, I didn't know Cynosural Fields were warp-able objects. So my POS Array was in Sujarento, 1 jump from Tama, and 2 jumps from high-sec.

I would load up on finished products, make 1 cyno jump from Sujarento to Tama (I would just Cyno into random open space, because I didn't know Cynos were warp-able), then I would warp to the high-sec gate.

One day, my jump freighter was full of Ferrogel (when Ferrogel was expensive, before the Dysprosium nerf), I Cyno'ed into Tama. Then, some player ship with red highlight in the background showed up on my overview. I was like...WTF? At that point, I learned that Cynosural Field are warp-able objects.

But my jump freighter managed to warp away just as he was red-boxing me. That was the last time I used Tama as a Cyno point, and also the last time I Cyno'ed into random open space.

Well, I have lost about 20 - 30% of my investment, in 1 or 2 speculations in the past (1 from what I remember, but 2 at the most).

Where I've held the item for a year, and that particular investment actually went down 20 - 30% instead. It didn't seem to be going anywhere, so I just sold at a 20 - 30% loss. I guess that would be considered a fuckup.

The one I can remember is Robotics. I bought around 65 Bil worth of Robotics before Dust 514 launch at around 80k ISK per unit. After holding them for a year, I sold them for about 55 - 60k ISK per unit.

As for PvP, there have been many, many fuckups, I'm a complete noob when it comes to PvP. Becuase I've mainly played the market aspects of Eve. The only thing I'm good at in PvP is losing expensive ships.

I'm not going to the event sadly but you could also cover supply chains.
The interdependenceon other players in eve is huge so an understanding on how to establish ongoing relationships with people you have never met built on trust with no real means of comeback if it goes wrong.

Please like my posts it makes me feel better about the time I spend on the forums WTS... Smiles
