There's not much to debate about your stubborn refusal to adapt.

The ~huge battles~ were extremely rare and generally fought over errors. They made big splashes, but they were a great deal of extra work for CCP and they hardly retained any new players. They were not thrilling, either, because of the Time Dilation: I read of one Titan pilot in B-R who fell asleep on the battlefield after watching the game crawl along for the better part of a day, woke up 8 hours later, and found his ship still intact and on the field. The ability to teleport all over the map, which enabled many of them, was stifling k-space outside of high sec. Capital use is *up* since the jump rebalance, because people can field them without worrying that every capital power in the cluster will teleport over and flatten them five minutes later.

Not to mention that nullsec will never even approach any capacity for self-sufficiency as long as anyone anywhere can teleport down to Jita.

As to your complaint that large groups aren't having as much fun anymore: if the nonstop table-pounding and manifesto-writing from major alliance leadership pre-Aegis was to be believed, they weren't having much fun before, either. The large alliances are set up so that a handful of people have second jobs doing all the work, which masses of people who don't have any investment in or knowledge of the game log in when told to for instant content, like a wetware ISBoxer fleet. It's not a sustainable workload for the alliance enablers, it's not entertaining for anyone on the other side of the battlefield, and it's not good for EVE to have the game dominated by people who hardly even play it.

I've only seen one person complain about the action in the recent invasion of Providence, and they weren't on the Provi side. Everyone else seems to have had a blast.
