Got the same bug.
Black screen, and all my market orders and inventory loading forever. I can do nothing in this broken client.

is Twisted joke?
I can't create bug report because of bugged patch.

I can only chat at black screen and exit game.

I solved it! Big smile
Patch broke resource files so you need to run rescache.exe in your client folder. This tool will scan all files and will propose to download corrupted files. Press "Y" and in a few minutes client will be restored.

I couldn't patch.
Downloaded a fresh repair tool (it hadn't been working in awhile) and that fixed the patcher.
About to see what happens when I log in.
Everything seems to be working fine now.

We believe we've isolated the issue; using information from support tickets and bug reports, thank you so much for sending us these details, since we weren't able to reproduce the issue in-house. This goes to show how important it is for us to receive as much detail from you as possible whenever there are strange issues like this.

The fix is in two part; the first one was deployed today, an updated version of rescache.exe. The second part will be deployed on Tuesday, a low-level change to how static data is loaded from disk and verified. Until then, if you are experiencing this black screen issue, please run rescache.exe to fix it.

Unfortunately this didn't fix my client. I have ran the recache tool and the repair tool.

All my clients and all chars are experiencing this issue. All black screen when character is chosen. Neocom and chat channels show up though.

Any suggestions on how to fix? Still unable to play due to this bug.

Please try to download the slim installer at http://community.eveonline.com/support/download/ (97.4 MB), install it on top of the current install, and then run the rescache tool again (let it run and fix things as needed but say no when it prompts to download all). Please don't run the repair tool. Does this help? What happens during the process and after?

More drastic, rename the install folder and the shared cache folder to something like EVE-old:

C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE => C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE-old
C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE => C:\ProgramData\CCP\EVE-old

Using the slim installer, install into the default location of ...\CCP\EVE\ and confirm a shared cache location of ...\CCP\EVE\

If the previous method didn't work, does this one work?

Thanks for your quick replies.

I installed it over the previous copy (programfiles/ccp/eve)

Recache ran, it didn't find any errors and did not prompt to download any new files. Can I delete the cache manually and start from scratch, or would this not be a good idea?

Edit: also at the end of recache the tool closes itself, there are no options.

Assuming this didn't work, try renaming the shared cache so that a fresh copy is created (the Launcher will download 297 MB to start a new cache).

I tried that, in fact deleted the sharedcache and it installed a new one. That is the one I ran. Same as before it runs through finding no issues and closes itself at/towards the end.

Would it be a good idea to delete my entire cache folder?

edit: almost certain this is a cache issue. I have 4 seperate eve folders in the ccp folder. The final one is for SiSi and that has exactly the same issue.

I think completely deleting the cache and letting it redownload it all may work but never having done so I'd love to have your input before I do.

Can you try temporarily creating a new settings/cache folder, please (note that shared cache and cache is not the same). Find C:\Users\YOURWINUSERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility and rename it, say, by adding -old or 2 to the end.

If you renamed the shared cache and let the Launcher create a new one, then you have effectively created a new shared cache folder.

Do you have the latest video card drivers?

I'm backing up both the cache and shared cache folders (appdata and programdata) and will delete the old ones. Trying running recache with admin before I try the 'clean cache' boot.

Will post if either method works.

Thanks again

edit: also yes drivers up to date, specs are pretty good and never had hardware issues running multiple clients on fairly high settings.

Running recache with administrator worked! it found 15 corrupted files and now its working great.

I've had all sorts of issues with windows 10 running eve if everything isnt done with admin. May be useful advice for others with issues.

Very interesting, we've heard about Windows 10 security permission issues (isolated cases if upgrading from Windows 7/8, we've not heard of any on clean Windows 10 installs) but we haven't been able to reproduce this. Can I ask you to send us a bug report https://community.eveonline.com/support/bug-reports/ with as much details as possible on your Windows 10 and EVE setup, including the security permissions on the shared cache folder.

Glad we got this sorted for you, this also helps us help others.

For anyone reading, to fix most patching issues and the black screen issue:

Step #1: Download the slim installer (97 MB) and install on top of the existing installation.
Step #2: Run the rescache tool (as admin) and verify the shared cache.
