I still think the anxiety about declining PCU is stupid and demonstrates a narrow view. ALL mmos I know of are showing signs of decline (with "quick fix" MOBAs on the rise), and at the risk of agreeing with Divine Entervention, it may have something to do with a generational shift than anything else.

When i started pre-school, Jimmy Carter was President of my Country and telephones with buttons instead of dials were the hot new thing lol. The kind of experience an MMO gives me...fits...with my preferences which are 'slower' than younger folks tend to have. But every day more and more people who never knew life before the internet and cell phones are coming of age, and so much stuff competes for their attention, and their money.

The point here is while everyone seems to have some idea on how to 'fix' it, at some point you have to consider the idea that there IS no fix that makes a game like EVE grow while staying true to it's MMO roots. We all just might be part of a dying breed.

The corporate heads at CCP might have to make a choice one day or another tho. How low can it go while still financing their other projects.

At the end of the day, many MMO have a player base crying about how it "lost it's root" without taking into consideration what you are talking about. If company X want MMO Y to still generate positive income, they somehow have to follow the market a bit. If company X would rather keep it's MMO Y true to it's root, it has to get another project into gear because with the market moving, so will the income.

Everybody has their own line in the sand where they will accept to go or won't depending on which changes will be made, CCP has to see where they draw the road over that sand and who's line gets run over or not. In the mean time, all we can do is wait.

Well wait and ***** in hope our very own line sill survive I guess...

The big difficult part of these discussions always gets hung up on what is the roots of eve vs what I want in eve. Eve is supposed to be difficult and harsh, but as soon as there is a change which requires player skill, everybody loses their mind.

To quote Lfod Shi

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

That's because EVE is supposed to be hard for the others...

Has anybody mentioned ccps announcement to bring back large expansions in with smaller regular updates? Example they gave in the recent vid is citadels and entosis sov. Reason is that those are parts of a bigger change but getting just parts makes big picture more difficult.

Summer break is over, numbers should start to rise.

Also, CCP seems to be trying different things to bring more people in, and keep them around.

Unless "almost 40k" is 31,600 to you... no

The weekend top was 31600 and it lasted 15 minutes.

Peaks aren't important anyways, it is the average, or totality of players that matter. We are still declining according to Eve-Offline. 3 month average, 23k, 1 month 21k, 2 week 20k, 1 week 20k.

Also the graph itself show that if you go out 3 months, then 2 weeks and pick any time this summer you will get higher averages than now.

And yes CCP got rid of their WoD staff, but then had more layoffs after that. They also moved into a smaller office in Iceland now and used the proximity of the University as the reason (University = interns).

CCP Quant: Of all those who logon in Eve, 1.5% do Incursions, 13.8% PVP and 19.2% run Missions while 22.4% mine.

40.7% Join a fleet. The idea that Eve is a PVP game is false, the social fabric is in Missions and Mining.

And he posted on Sunday... in which he couldn't have seen something that hadn't happened yet unless he is Nostradamus.

And you are being obtuse on purpose.

I should have stated, the weekend top to the point of his post. Sorry.

Ok, fine. I was wrong.

Let me rephrase.

Do you think 34k is almost 40k???

Please answer yes. You kinda have to now for white-knighting that guy.

Can I ask him master?

Seems when I tried to ask him before, you interjected with your usual Tippianess.

Thiw may seem off base but isnt the attitude of having to fight and be all self righteous over frivolous things such as over exaderating login numbers part of the issue with eve? It is in all communities but seems more prevalent here.

Yes, that. Also the mentality that certain vets hold that this is "Their" Eve and anything that changes "Their" Eve in a way they don't like is bad and needs to be shouted down.

The most ironic thing on these forums is when an Entitled Vet posts about someone else being wrong for feeling entitled. Very oligarch of them.
