If I had a choice, I'd never die only to let my clones to fly in the stars.
As for actual reason I did it, I prefer not to speak about it.

There are things worse than death.

Why? as in why did I choose to be a capsuleer? I didn't make the choice so much as the choice was made for me, Hyasyoda doesn't waste resources.

-- "The weak of mind are quick to judge with slightest tempt; Thus fools go forth to spread false word." - The Scriptures, Book of Trials 2:13 - 2:21

It seemed like a good idea at the time?

Why?
Why indeed...

Because of my mother.
Because of old (pre-)screening standards.
Because of dreams.

And because the universe is not without a sense of irony, maybe.

Got drunk in college, it's one of those storys that starts with "hold my beer, this is going to be awesome!" And ends with "mother of god, what have I done........?"

A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go.

well screw me sideways, Kimmy can say something other than brainwashed political bullshit?

As for me, I was a navigation tech on a pilgrim class cruiser run by a capsuleer. We got caught out trying to slip through the HED-GP bottleneck when returning from cracking open pirate vaults. With the navigation stations closest to the pod itself my section of the ship lasted long enough for me to make it out alive. My capsuleer was the only other one to make it out, even if he did get podded.

Fear of death sets in after something like that, and I'm no fool, nothing waits for us after this life.

I've never gotten the impression of ego or even precisely brainwashing from Ms. Kim.

Solu Terona. You are charged with public lies about Caldari Officer, with disrespect to Caldari Officer and with spreading of gallentean propaganda.

Your presence hereby will be considered as undesirable and your uninvited appearance might be met with preventive force actions without warning.

Have a nice day.

I'm a naturally curious person. I have a more than passing interest in technology and ancient civilizations. I want to find out what people have done and learned, and find the next steps to extend those roads.

It takes an extreme amount of luck to be a scientist who gets access to even a single ancient relic; it takes a lifetime of such luck to become a chief investigator making active headway. This is in addition to the sheer work involved - the work is necessary but insufficient; ask a Matari slave what a life of work alone will get you.

I was on the one path. When I tested positive for capsule compatibility, I realized that I had found an alternative path towards the same ends and would be foolish to pass up the opportunity. The old-fashioned way was a possibility, but I had a way to exceed it quickly and acted.

One of my most distinguished professors worked in the field for sixty years before he was able to get direct access to a crate of decrepit Sleeper relics from known space. I looked upon active Sleeper drones guarding intact structures yesterday, and not for the first time. I chose correctly.

does that sort of pain come with a propensity to use the standings system? Kimmy i know you don't like me but setting -10 is a little much.

On the bright side, that's an invitation to shoot right back.

Anyanka set me red one time, and I'm still red to her. My response was to set her to red and pile her name into my very large list of people to KOS. Typically, the people who are red to me are -5 to -10 (though depending on the subject's name and activity, I may also set people of -2 as red). That's how I determine, by a glance, whether someone hostile is on Local the next time I pass the area.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

I never got a -10 standings notification Cry. I thought what we had was special, Kimmy.....

Conceived in a test tube and born into service of the Caldari State, becoming a capsuleer gave me a chance to freely roam the stars and learn from other empires.

While respecting my Caldari roots, I'm free to forge my own path, regardless of corporate modus operandi.

Our Husband and Lord believes this about us, that if a bird is released and flies away but then returns, her love and devotion is given of her own accord.

Upon our Emancipation and our marriage, we were given permission to leave for the Federation whose flag we were born under. We would study under the liberal auspices of a Federation education, and we would either disappear or return to him.

As a reminder of our fidelity, we bind ourself in a shibari harness of silk, an instrument of self-sequestration whose mechanics were taught to us by a female Achuran friend. Though our brain is fitted with post-Jovian tech, condemned not to die or suffer anytime soon of natural causes, hurtling through space wrapped in millions of tons of Tritanium and dark steel, we still consider it our honor to return to our spartan Holdership in Kador and kneel beside our Lord. It is our only pleasure.

I would say there were personal reasons I am not wililng to discuss here, but I was young and perhaps a bit too naive and lacking perspective for my own good back then. Long story short: I was made a very generous offer by the Republic (who footed the bill for training and implants) once my pod compatibility was verified, compound that with a sense of duty and a good measure of hard-headedness - I suppose, partly I did it just to see if I could make it , and you got yourself a ... Well, uh, me.
