For faction/corp standings grind: lvl1s or lvl4s ?

Title says it all.

I want to raise standings with Caldari State / Caldari Navy.

Which option is better:
a) blitz through lvl1/lvl2 missions one-shotting everything
or
b) blitz through lvl4s (much slower)
?

It's funny, but you actually missed the best option. Blitz L3s. You'll still more or less one-shot everything (did I mention you're in a Machariel with the barest token tank and warp speed rigs?) but you'll get much larger gains.

As Zhilia Mann said, the best option for converting your hours at keyboard into standings gains is to blitz L3 Security missions to get to the juicy, juicy storyline missions every 16 regular missions.

If you have more ISK than you care to keep hold of, you can pay someone else to grind the NPC corp standings for you, but this doesn't work for faction standings: it helps you get access to the L3 agents though. Contact Imiarr Timshae if you need paid help with NPC corp standings.

If you can't focus on the game (e.g.: playing while at work or supposedly watching Netflix with the significant other), L4 distribution missions can be done in a blockade runner with a set of fittings ranging from three nanofibres through to three expanded cargo holds. Plot the route, engage autopilot, and pray that nobody wants to try their luck at the blockade runner lottery :D

Distribution missions do not compare to L3 security missions in terms of rewards per hour, so do not bother actually flying that blockade runner back and forth.

suroken has 3x lv 3 agents and a storyline agent next door, all CN. there are 2 more storyline agents next door as well, I suggest ignoring the missions until they are about to expire as that will force the missions to go to the CN storyline agent.

Is Gila any good for blitzing through lvl3s ?
I cannot use Machariel, bacause of crappy gunnery skills...

Gila is a great ship but because it relies on standard drones with travel time it is not a good blitz ship.
T3 or Mach is the best option and you will need this so you know exactly what you have to kill, take or do to complete each mission.

sentries work pretty well. last time I blitzed 3s I used an ishtar. Although there have been a few nerfs since then.

gila doesn't work for pure blitzing, but it will get them done pretty quickly. a drone nav comp or two would help.
