[Succession] Declaration of Allegiance for Khanid

Lord Haromi stated, "As there appears to be no immediate choice by the hand of the divine, it is my sacred duty to declare a succession by trials of those champions chosen by the Royal Houses. As prowess in defending Holy Amarr is to the fore of our minds, I would expect paladins from the ranks of our loyal capsuleers to declare themselves available to their liege lords."

I, Sinjin Mokk, Cyberkinght of Khanid, Baron Holder of House Mokk, CEO of Royal Khanid Colonial Exploration, Chamberlain of the Royal Khanid Capsuleer Council do hearby state my undying allegiance to His Royal Majesty, Garkeh Khanid II, first of his name.

Should my King decide it worthy of him to participate in the Trials of Succession for the Throne of the Empire of Amarr, I pledge my sword, my fortune and my life to his just and noble cause. I pray that I may be found worthy to stand by his side this day and to the end of my days.

"Hearken we beseech Thee, O Lord, to our prayers, and deign to bless with the right hand of Thy Majesty, this sword with which Thy servant desires to be girded, that it may be a defense of churches, widows, orphans and all Thy servants of Khanid against the sourge of pagans, that it may be the terror and dread of all evil-doers, and that it may be just in both attack and defense. So swear we all in the name of the King!"

*edit: Changed the title so all true Sons and Daughters of Khanid can show their support.
We live for the King, we die for the King!

"Angels live, they never die, Apart from us, behind the sky. They're fading souls who've turned to ice, So ashen white in paradise."

While moderately weak at best, His royal majesty, Khanid II has legal claim to the throne.

Fear the God and honor the Empress!

Brother, I too was once a loyal supporter of King Khanid. But it is time to awaken...

Where was Khanid when the Empress fell? Who stood at the Empress' side in the face of the Drifters? Were any of the royal houses there to witness? No, brother, it was us, the capsuleers, who stood ready to defend her.

The angels spoke the language of God and called themselves sefrim: those that guard the high seats of heaven. God ordered them here to protect the emperor against all evils that ever beset him.

We failed in God's mission for us because we forgot what we are. The Houses have cast us aside time and again; but no longer should we cast aside our own true nature. We are immortal and divine, we are Sefrim.

In the darkness of this Drifter menace we should not look to the royal Houses to guide us any longer. We stand above them, by God's divine will.

None shall stand higher than you save the Sefrim,
Who serve Me as others shall serve you

We shall light the way.

Oh, gods, not this again....

We. Are. Human. Humans with unusually shiny tools, but humans. At least for this purpose.

Even leaving aside that true immortals don't need cloning contracts, anything else leads towards a malevolent ... capsule-tocracy? Pilotocracy? ... which there's no sign we're qualified to handle.

And a lot of signs we're not.

We have our part to play. Is it not enough for us to play it?

Our part to play is to guide and to guard, it is forbidden to us to aggress upon any man.

Are the Drifters men? I care little for the dealings of mortals in the Empire, nor do I advocate for us to take a role within it. Our part is to return light from the darkness of the Drifters.

I seek not to meddle in the lowly affairs of the royals; I merely wish to remind my fellow capsuleers that God himself placed us above the Houses and on footing with the Emperor. We are not beholden to their whims or rituals. They have cast us aside; they will someday account for their own failures to heed God in this matter.

We, however, must answer for our own inability to protect the Empress. God placed us here to guard her and watch over the Empire. We failed in the former because we forgot what we are and the power we wield; let us not become so distracted by mortal affairs that we subsequently fail in the latter.

So assuming that he doesn't succeed in the succession trials (I'm going to take the assumption that he'll be a valid contender as a given - the writing's on the wall at this point even if it isn't publicly announced), is he actually going to top himself this time, like he was supposed to the last?

I spent my adolescent life in the Khanid Kingdom, if nothing else, His Majesty Garkeh Khanid II was shown to be a strong, practical ruler. I would be happy to see him on the Throne, given the chance.

I may be mistaken, but hasn't he actually lost trials already?

I pledge my sword, my soul, and the thousands under my command to Khanid II.

Only he has the strength to unite the Empire against the menace of the Drifters. The current heirs are soft, and woe to the citizens of Amarr should one of them rest upon the throne.

What a strange thing to say.

If anything, technology is the language of a tool-using animal-- predominantly, humankind. It's something humans excel at.

Quote:

These ... I don't understand why you would think we match what you are describing.

Even today, I have aggressed upon and killed men.

Capsuleers are, if anything, marvelously well equipped, and bidden, to aggress upon and kill humans.

It's how we earn our keep.

Also-- even if I don't think of myself in this way, in your terms, I'm essentially an atheist.

An atheist sefrim? How bizarre would that be....

Respectfully, I don't like where this logic goes at all. In many ways of looking at the world, a celestial being who forgets or rebels against its proper role ... is a demon.

The Khanid Mashtori, long servants of the Kingdom do hereby declare their unwavering support for his Majesty King Khanid II

The King has a rightful and legal claim to the Throne, no other heir has the experience, drive and power to defend the Empire from the Drifter threat.

The Khanid have long accepted the virtue of technology. It takes a uniquely antiquated mind to question the gifts God has so clearly bestowed upon us. What hubris it takes to question the favors given by God...

Generally, we kill other capsuleers; by our very nature, capsuleers are not human. While it is regrettable that this sometimes involves the destruction of faithful crew, there is a certain destructiveness inherent to our Sefrim nature that it is not always possible to temper. For was it not written that when the angels touched the ground with their feet the earth shook violently and fire engulfed those daring too near the divinities.

We are celestial beings who forgot our role long ago. We have been wasting our time and divine purpose in bowing to mortals and royals who are beneath us. I call upon us to remember our role; God placed us here to guard the Empress and the Empire in our own way, and gave us the celestial gifts needed to do so. He did not create us to serve as puppets in the games of men. If we had remembered this sooner, perhaps we would not have failed in our task to protect the Empress. Yet there is a chance for atonement in this sin; we may yet still protect the Empire.

Um.

Huh?

Respectfully, we generally kill conventional ships with conventional bridge crews. Those of us out hunting each other are kind of the exception.

Pilot, do you not remember having been a baseliner? I mean, I don't, but I don't remember much past the last six months.

It's not like we just dropped in from Paradise. You were unambiguously human, and mortal.

And God didn't give this technology to the Amarr; He gave it to the Jove, and through them to the Caldari ... and through them to others.

Is that how you think your God would bestow the protection of the sephrim? Like old clothes handed down from a rich cousin?

I don't ... gods and spirits.

Is this how I sounded? Is this who I was? Taking every little sign as proof, so desperate not to be human that....

I didn't, not exactly. I wasn't this person, not exactly. I've read the essays, but....

I guess ... if you're going to insist on being a celestial creature, a sephrim's not the worst you could do.

If you're going to insist on going mad, I suppose there are worse ways to do it.

Please forgive my comment in this thread; I have nothing but respect and well-wishing for our Khanid friends and the houses of Greater Amarria. Ms Lazair has touched on a particularly annoying bit of Capsuleer confusion which I deal with a lot. Please, ignore the distraction from your pledge to the throne. It's far more important than this.

Lena Lazair wrote:

No. If there is a language the creator of this universe spoke to breathe life into the wind and shape the stars, it is most certainly mathematics. Which is not at all the same as technology.

Lena Lazair wrote:

You are a bit of meat in a skeletal shell with an echo-scanner attached to it.

It claims immortality within its bony bubble, because it's never been aware of death. A lack of awareness is not a lack of occurrence.

It claims divinity from its vertebral perch, because it has never seen divinity, but it likes the way the word reverberates through its tissues.

Your life continues through the cooperation of unseen thousands of people.

But, don't let me detract from your ascendance! You are undoubtedly the most glorious canned brain which has ever proclaimed divinity! Praise, praise, O baseline sinners - you brains uncann'd! Heed the Lazairian prophecy, and know that the brains-with-echo-scanners truly, truly are blessed as heralds of heaven!

Edit: I'm sorry, that got a little weird!

Edit 2: Aria, your memory has almost gotten as bad as mine has! We should talk sometime :)

I am not Amarrian, nor do I follow the Amarr faith. However I nonetheless pledge my support to Garkeh Khanid. In the time I have spent in Amarr and Khanid space I have seen the simple facts, the Empire needs the Khanid if it wants to survive, and in these turbulent times the cluster needs the Empire. Khanid ships are very powerful, and the Empire needs this edge more than ever. More importantly the Khanid embrace capsule technology to a far greater extent than the empire, and it is capsuleers who stand the best chance of fighting off the drifters. King Khanid once again sits on the Amarr privy council, he is as Amarr as any other contender for the Imperial throne.

I stated, "I, Sinjin Mokk, Cyberkinght of Khanid, Baron Holder of House Mokk, CEO of Royal Khanid Colonial Exploration, Chamberlain of the Royal Khanid Capsuleer Council do hearby state my undying allegiance to His Royal Majesty, Garkeh Khanid II, first of his name."

Did I, at any point in the above declaration, stutter? Was that ambiguous in any way, shape or form? Do you have some form of developmental disability that would cause you to doubt the very specific meaning of the aforementioned statement?

I do understand your viewpoint. However, what our Kingdom and our Empire needs most right now is solidarity. Believe me, I am far from being a Unionist, but even I recognize that this is not the time for divisiveness. Or sedition.

Please attend to your faith and deeply consider your choices in the coming days.

Oh and incidentally, you may want to address me as "My Lord" or "Baron." Not, "Brother."

Thank you.
