Court Chamberlain Pomik Haromi has announced that the Succession Trials to select a new Emperor/Empress will be held next year. This is good news, as it calms the people's fear of a new Karsoth rising.

For now, not much is known yet about the trials but a few rules & regulations have been unveiled:

-Succession Trial Date: 21 to 23 April of YC 118
-Only Amarr & Khanid ships will be allowed to participate (In detail: only ships that exclusively require Amarr ship skills) The class of ship has not yet been determined.
- Champions must have positive unmodified standings towards the Amarr Empire
- Champions can be of any race or Bloodline (a change from the previous Championship!)
- Champions may not put forth an Heir of their Choice, as the Heirs will select the best 5 of those after the Championship Tournament to fight for them in the final Succession Trial.

More will be revealed in future declarations by the Amarr Empire officials

I published an article regarding this announcement here: 'Succession trials confirmed next year to select the new Emperor/Empress'

To participate in the Succession Trial championship is a mark of excellence & skill, as only the best are allowed to participate. The 5 best pilots from this championship tournament will be selected by the Heirs to fight for them in the Succession Trial itself, determining the successor for the Imperial Throne.

As you all know by now, the Seraph, personal flagship of Empress Jamyl Sarum I has been destroyed in a single volley by a Drifter attack.

The Court Chamberlain Haromi has officially declared Empress Jamyl Sarum I dead, and is now officially the new ruler of the Empire. He has put the entire Imperial Navy on high alert & has called a meeting of the leaders of the Imperial armed forces & the government to assess the situation.

These will be dark times for the Amarr Empire and by extension, the New Eden cluster, as the Drifters made one hell of a statement today: 'We can strike anywhere, anytime & get away with it, unpunished'

The article I published is here: 'Empress Jamyl Sarum I assassinated by Drifter taskforce!' Updated to include the response of Concord & the 3 other major powers

I urge everyone to remain calm & await official announcements regarding Empress Jamyl Sarum's fate & the Amarr Empire. I will do my best to keep this thread updated regarding news on her fate & related circumstances.

Scope report on the attack that lead to the destruction of the Seraph

Short video by capsuleer Delonewolf, showing the Seraphs destruction

Short movie by Sahriah Bloodstone, titled 'Fall of the Empress' displaying the various Drifter attacks in Safizon that ultimately ended in the assassination of the Empress. It comes with a quote from the Amarr Scriptures very fitting for the circumstances:

"There will be neither compassion nor mercy;
Nor peace, nor solace
For those who bear witness to these Signs
And still do not believe."
- The Scriptures, Book of Reclaiming 25:10

Updated: Empress Jamyl is now officially declared dead

Since the frozen corpse of Jamyl Sarum was on field after the attack I think it's pretty safe to say she was killed. If she wasn't it is direct, confirmed evidence of a clone which as we all know is forbidden.

i actually had to watch the scope and mr. Kho's((Delonewolf is ingame Meizu Kho)) recording multiple times. I just find the coordination and performance of drifters amazing. to take that large of a target down and depart with out extended encagement takes amazing amount of military intelligence and coordination to perform. to my knowledge not even the nullsec empires manage to pull that off.

The nullsec empires also do not possess weapons with almost limitless damage capabilities, mounted to battleships with the agility of frigates and the locking speed of linked interceptors.

Not if all your ships have a gravity drive, an immensely powerful rift-energy superweapon and complete immunity to warp disruption.

That brings up an interesting question. At the speed at which it was destroyed, were they flying defences down?

Fellow Capsuleers,

I am still soaked from just leaving the capsule as I am writing to you. This is a sad day. Many capsuleers stayed behind and tried to evacuate who and what was left from the Titan Seraph. Some of my colleagues are running patrol routes along the Jove Observatories, others are already negotiating consequences. Things happened so fast, I can't find the right words yet.

The definition of an 'External Threat' has become visible today. No need to say that this show of force is brutal and - at least to my limited experience - unseen before. We tried to assemble what we had and I cut together a rough impression of the incident. Some interesting details may be hidden in the video. The Drifter's flight vector, number and estimated distance to the wreckage before warp-off, for example. But I don't have the power to investigate for now.

Assembled Video Footage

Fly safe and many thanks to those who joined fleet and helped to overcome this day,

Having personally witnessed the speed of Drifter targeting systems, I can assure you we do not have that technological capability.

As for the intelligence assets and coordination? Oh yes. That, we have. We would've simply needed about 5,000 Tornados to do the same thing, and that's a lot harder to sneak in when you can't use pinpoint wormhole creation the way I suspect the Drifters do.

It appeared that a neutral pilot may have acquired the corpse. The Drifter forces were well out of range for (normal) cargo acquisition capabilities so it would be safe to assume they were not capable of capturing it for themselves.

Edited to remove reference to a "Gila". My video files of the incident do not provide sufficient evidence concerning the pilot or specific type of vessel in proximity to the remains. All that was clear was that there were at least 3 vessels that could have obtained them.

Well all things considered, there's a bright side I guess... They don't have her body. My sympathy for what all of you are going through since it was made official.

It is with the deepest sorrow that I have learnt of the death Empress Jamyl Sarum I.

On this sad occasion I recall Empress Sarum's distinguished public service and her singular role in the reform of Imperial institutions.

Not least the emancipation of millions.

The deaths of so many others only serve to deepen this tragedy.

I send my deepest sympathy to my brothers and sisters of faith.

Doubtful. Likely the Seraph was configured for travel, but also used a passive tank. Given their numbers, and the amount of damage we've observed the Lux system to do... no, really, the only thing that could have saved her would have been all of the escort Aeons' remote armor repairers catching at just the right moment.

All of them.

I'm trying to imagine what pain and loss the people of Amarr feel in the aftermath of this brutal attack, but I'm at a loss. As a Gallentean I have no idea what this portends for our future.

Today, though? Today we are all Amarrian.

Can someone explain, how the heck Drifters knew where exactly and when to warp in?..
