No upcoming MMOs are going to threaten eve. The new X3 expansion and upcoming X : Rebirth on the other hand...

Oh wait, this is just authored by an EVEMon guy, it's not an EVEMon thread. NVM then.

If you think CCP has learned their lesson, you don't understand human nature and you haven't really been paying attention.

You'll know CCP has learned their lesson when:

The overview works every time. Fundamental game mechanics (like warping) work every time.

Aurum is gone.

Fearless is a newsletter that CCP would be happy to let its customers read. (In fact, there should be no internal correspondence that would outrage the playerbase. If you're doing something that you know would **** us off if we found out, stop doing it!)

CCP stops meddling in the in-game economy (particularly the PLEX market) and fully discloses any 'exceptions' to that policy.

The QEN returns with all the old information and more.

ISK faucets roughly match up with ISK sinks.

CCP stops using anonymous 'white knight' alts on forums.

CCP stops taking assclown CSM members seriously, even if they're in the same alliance as the lead CCP developer.

CCP makes reasonably informative disclosures about what steps they've taken to combat bots and botting. ('Trust me, it's complicated, just press that placebo button.' doesn't count.)

Like I said, a long way from learning their lesson. But realistically, do you expected fully formed adults to change? To develop integrity, pride in the product they sell, a commitment to the virtual world (sandbox) of New Eden? Good luck with that.

Could I...you know...your stuff...?

Based on the way things have been going, I'd call Crucible - Patch of the Year!!

I'm not sure the clueless brown nose posts are any better thant the rage posts....Oops

Some of those like mine, were cautionary and somewhat sardonic. I still believe CCP is still shaking, and they really need to get their act together. I believe some members of the total community, outside those that post here regularly are still undecided.

I know a lot of people that went to X named MMO's or quit altogether and just gave EVE the finger, "lot" being 6+ accounts and in a sense its a bit of a cascade effect still splashing around as people won't keep endorsing the game or painting it in nice details for new people to enjoy.

Winter is here already, and you can see the frost, on my part I'm still a bit angry but willing to give CCP another chance for the time being, because I still want to believe.

Everything team Papercuts did should have been the NORM for the past 2 years. And that's why I am a bit appalled at how CCP was behaving.

The part I dislike about all of this is seeing what the next move on their part will be. Since I can no longer trust them enough despite my best intentions in taking the game in a way that will keep it thriving.

I don't think EVE will never die, Meridian 59 is still out there, eve will always have a core cadre of players, but seeing it downgraded another notch would be a bit too much for me.

Anyway, as it is now, it's a matter of patience and seeing what their next move will be.

It was a good patch, no doubt. Many needed items added. Now if only CCP had someone in charge of FW.

Crucible's definitely the best patch I've seen, but I've only been playing since just after Apocrypha released. Considering it's the one they've had the least dev time to do, that's pretty exceptional.

While I would guess their subscription numbers are up nicely, player activity still looks uncertain. Going by the second graph HERE, they've stopped the blood loss, but the patient may still be ill.

Overall, it goes to show how much value you can get out of putting some time into ideas that have been floating around for YEARS now...

Then you're not reading them right, because they are indeed up in every respect.

No. You saw a pretty darn huge spike (as in: it jumped by 15-20%), and they've stayed at that level so far (and even increased further). We're still too early to tell what will happen next — next week will be the first time we can start to detect a pattern.

I had hopes but really not much changed that affected anyone other than established power blocks...which just by reading their posts you can tell hate new guys or see them as easy kill mails,,,, Plus that spike was a weekend.. most of which where alt accounts Not new people... Hell i had 30ty some old players from old 2007 corps log on see what patch did.. 2 days later ... take care man its not changed that much its not that interesting catch ya on such and such MMO..... etc Which is sad cause they where rabid eve fans that got me started..Ugh

The numbers are clearly up. Pre Cruicble, it was rare to get more than 25K on the weekdays. Now 30-40K is regular on the least popular days.

Our numbers are almost up to the Pre Incarna days.

As for ToR, I don't think it will take many subs from EVE. Completely different style of play. If they like EVE, they won't leave for another completely different MMO.

Or they will do what I plan to... 1 month of EVE, 1 month of ToR (or 3 months and 3 months... whatever).

I still like space barbies. Wasnt bad they started it in the first place, lots of players anxiously awaited WiS. Problem is they released a WiS that wasnt 10% of what they promised us on on top of that they made (and still make) rediculous NeX prices.
Is still wish to dress up my avatars and show other people how cute (and filthy rich) I am. :D

I am not interested to show i am filthy rich as i am not, so a slash of 70-80% to NEx prices would be very desirable. Then I would like to be able to build a real wardrobe with something like 20-30 different assets, then be able to change my clothes without redoing my portrait... Then get some actual Incarna with lots of possibilties to spend those whiles we currently spend chatting while docked.

Yes, Crucible is a success, if all you desire of EVE, if all you can imagine for EVE is more of the same.

But not all of us are so easily enthralled by a few new bright shiny virtual objects and the chant "ships, ships, ships and more ships."

You'll see another huge spike when they give everyone a plex instead of an implant for logging on.

No, it's not. It's now rising — whether it's steadily or not is too early to say, but the rise is very clear.

Again, no, the spike was pretty much the same all week. The problem is that you're comparing different days, which already have different normal populations. Just because there are fewer people online on a Monday compared to the Sunday that precedes it doesn't mean that there is a decline — it's just the natural pattern. You need to compare Sundays to Sundays, Mondays to Mondays, or you're not getting any kind of useful results. This is the second Sunday in a row that we've surpassed 50k ppl online, something we haven't seen in a very long time.

Those weekday-to-weekday comparative numbers are — unquestionably — up. We only have two data points (this week and the last one), so, again, it's not quite enough to talk of a pattern, but so far it's actually creeping up on pre-incarna numbers.

I can't stand the results of blocking someone. I always end up clicking the show post button, then immediately regre it.
