A Moment's Time--Through Karad's Eyes

Fingertips dancing across smooth resin of his console, Karad listens to the soft voices in his earpiece. In one ear, the mechanical voice dictates the Probe's structural points of interest to him, and where it needs work to continue being a small-time mining vessel. It tells him the amount of or he has accumulated, and the proximity of pirates in the area, of no real cause for alarm.

In his other ear, sounds of locals staccato back and forth, detailing the ongoing reduction of the local asteroid belts, one of which he works within, settled into a quiet nook in order to make himself a little extra cash for a small time longer. "Enough to live on," for several weeks, while he figures out where he will go to make his small fortune.

Head turning, in the direction of the soft alarm sounding in his ear, Karad reaches practiced fingers to the consol to his right, tips snagging on the raised nodes dictating "Module Shutdown." His left hand taps at the console to the other side, raising the thrusters to half-mast, then sending the Probe on a well-practiced journey to his present station in Teonusude. In several minutes, he will be home to refine and check into what he can produce.

Tapping raised-node buttons on the arms of his chair, it swivels around, allowing him to set his boots softly to the floor of the cockpit. Reaching to the edge of a wall, he takes hold of a hand bar, and lifts himself up, to wander away from the cockpit, into the main of the ship, taking stairs lightly.

Maybe he will make something beautiful, for someone to enjoy in their home. Perhaps it will be a thing of war, capable of mass destruction in large enough a quantity. He does not know. But... it will be his to have produced.
