If you are able to somehow find a working install of an older version, you can only get as far as the log in screen.

Not true. I'm sure I'd get insta banned for linking, so I wont. Doesn't take much to find them.

I was looking back at old expansions for eve and watched youtube videos of eve circa 2004.

Is there anyway we can play these expansions offline? For example EVE after the Caster (2003) expansion. Just to see what eve was like?

What is there exciting for you to go back in the past and play elder eve?

True, but it would take an insanely longer amount of time to get anything worthwhile done because there would be no economy, ships or fittings on the market without the other players around to produce goods.

You're missing the bigger picture. If you had access to older EvE server code, you could seed the market. Hell, you could hook into CREST and populate the economy with real-time market data. Adjusted downward for inflation, of course. Twisted

Honestly, I think it would be cool for Sisi to have the ability to choose a version of the game to play in, for old time's same. Prohibitively expensive? Yes. Problematic for all kinds of technical reasons? F*** yes. But awesome? Check.

Nope. Test server is the closest thing to that sort of thing, with it being somewhat behind TQ and, while not necessarily offline, you'd pretty much see no one else unless you head out to the PvP systems. Not quite the same thing, but that's just a nicer way of saying, "Hell no!"

To my understanding, CCP has already tried keeping two different versions on Eve running at the same time before with Trinity, and that didn't go over so well from what I heard. In a perfect world, it sure would be nice to hope in to Eve 2003 if only to see what it was like back then for those who missed it or for those who were really there to have some nostalgia time.

"Tomahawks?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

The danger is what makes the game exciting. Take that out and it's just boring.

Without the other people all that mining and mission running would be effectively pointless. You wouldn't be able to do it anyway as it's a player run market and as such there would be nobody to buy anything that you put onto the market.
