That's not what he's referring to - he's talking about the Amarr/Caldari-SOE derived status (which is negative). To avoid damaging these faction standings, just don't do SOE storyline missions - simples

The derived standings is very small. ALthough there are certain SOE storylines I skip, I do do them every now and then and my cal/amarr standings are still perfectly fine.
