Careby's Virtual Handshake Loan Request - Unsecured 12% Declining Rate

Author

I am requesting a loan.

Loan type: Unsecured, no collateral, signature loan

Loan amount: No cap, unlimited

Minimum per investor: No minimum

Maximum per investor: No maximum

Investor qualification: Investor characters must be older than six months and have previously posted in forums at least once.

Interest: Paid monthly to each investor beginning 30 days after receipt of investment

Interest rate: Declining rate
First month: 12%/month
Second month: 10%/month
Third month: 8%/month
Fourth month: 6%/month
Fifth month: 4%/month
Sixth and later months: 2%/month

Loan term: Ongoing, at the option of each investor

Cashout: Any investor may cash out at any time with pro-rated interest earned through the date of withdrawal request

Loan purpose: To bolster my capital reserves

Guarantee: Loan is guaranteed by the real-life me. If I lose everything in game, investors will be made whole by purchase of Plex, as needed. If my account is banned, a new one will be created to handle repayment of investors. If I die in real life, my executor will have detailed instructions for repayment of my debt.

Other debt: I have no other in-game debt. I will not incur in-game debt other than what is disclosed in this thread.

Risk: As with all unsecured loans, there is risk of default. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose.

Discussion: I have been playing since October 2012. This is my main character. I have never scammed or been intentionally dishonest in game. I have loaned other players up to 10B. I have contributed to Plex4Good, both directly with Plexes and indirectly via character auction (20B). My current activities include arbitrage, speculation, trading, and manufacturing. My books are closed. While I have been modestly successful, I do not represent any of my current activities as profitable, and the results of this loan do not depend on any projected profits. I may or may not use the proceeds of the loan, and if I do, it may be for speculation, or trading, or any other legitimate activity.

Your decision to participate in this loan should be made entirely on whether or not you think I will act honestly. If I am honest, you will get your investment back with interest. If I am not honest, you could lose it all. Your investment is safe - you have my word on it.

I reserve the right to close this offering to new investments at any time. I reserve the right to retire the loan at any time. If the loan is retired, all investors will be repaid in full with interest for the current month.

If you choose to invest, please post the amount and wait for me to accept before sending funds.

Thank you for your interest.

Off topic: even though this looks exactly like something I would post on MD circa 2009, I can hereby publicly declare that I am indeed not involved this, umm....intriguing.... proposal.

I apologise for this intermission, carry on and good luck :)

That's up to the investors. While there is certainly a number I would not be comfortable exceeding, I am quite certain it will not be reached.

On the basis that the previous 2 loans I have pledged isk on have either defaulted or tried to scam me, I will invest 1 billion, not alot of isk and at least if you do run off I was expecting it :-D

so yeah 1 billion isk on the interesting yet odd business model

Not what is the maximum per investor. What is the planned overall debt value of this loan. How much do you plan to accept, while remaining capable of paying the interest each month, on time.

Edit: Oh, I see it now. Unlimited. Have you any idea how much in interest payments you could afford each month without having to use principal capital from the loan?

I currently have the in-game resources to pay the stated interest rates on a considerably bigger loan than I think is possible for me to obtain with this offering, and the real-life resources committed to backing that up in the event of an in-game disaster. I know that must sound cryptic, and I do want to be forthcoming with information. I just don't want to put an artificial ceiling on this loan because I think my number would sound silly compared to what potential investors will likely deem appropriate.

I went outside.Big smile

Actually I had a close family member with a serious illness, and felt I needed to spend my available time with them. Sadly that need has now passed, and I find myself with time on my hands and the need for diversion from such things.

I am borrowing as a last resort, in a manner of speaking. I have another idea I have been wanting to try in EVE, and this is the only way I can think of to determine whether or not I have the credibility to possibly make it happen. It isn't about grinding reputation, since I don't think repaying this loan will change anyone's opinion of my trustworthiness. It is more about testing reputation among people whose opinions I respect. I hope the results of this loan will tell me whether or not I am wasting my time on my next venture.

My gut says you aren't posting this with the intention of deliberate default.

Just posting that so that if I'm wrong, someone can make me eat my words.

If I would lend you 1b isk now and then later decide to add to the loan would you consider that as 2 separate loans or how do you handle the interest payment on those.

Is there any reason for me not to lend you money for 1 month, pull out and then lend you money again at the 12% of the first month again.

I would consider two investments made on different dates as separate for purposes of accounting, unless you asked me to combine them by averaging the maturity dates.

One month after the first investment is made (by anyone), the interest rate for new investments drops to the second month level. This way early investors are not penalized for being early, and there is an incentive not to wait too long to "get in".

Alright that makes sense to me, I'll throw in 1b for now, might speak to you later on to add to that amount.
