Is Hauling Fun?

Serious question here. I do all my own hauling and it is a pain every time. Thankfully I rarely need to haul so it doesn't happen very often.

For those that actually make their living in this game hauling, do you enjoy it?
For those also haul their own stuff, do you like moving your own goods?

Basically ITT just talk about the fun/h you get while space trucking.

I think you have to be into a sort of internet space-truck-driver RP thing to enjoy hauling.

I can't imagine making a career of hauling but with the way industry and markets are set up, I guess someone has to do it.
(and if they do it AFK... well there's a cure for that)
Hauling in the T1 (and soon T2) industrials is not too bad but I still try to avoid having to shift stuff.

This is why whenever I stay in a single area for any amount of time I just start gathering the things I often use there.
As a result I have all these 'treasure piles' scattered across space.
My assets tab drives my OCD friends nuts.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

This is like asking the question, "Does anyone enjoy taking a ****?" Well, not really, but...

1 - It must be done once and a while anyways, even if it isn't the most pleasant thing on your to-do list
2 - It's good to clear out all the junk you've collected since the last time you did it.
3 - You may want to bring reading material along with, just in case it takes a while to finish.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

No, hauling is not *fun*.

Unless you're in a brick tanked Deep Space Transport with a web, scram and some mates on the other side of the gate waiting to jump in.

However, as a general rule, no. Mind you, trade-hub runs get a lot less tedious in a blockade runner.

I think of it as one of life's underrated pleasures. Have you ever felt worse after the paperwork's complete?

I love hauling.

It's the only time I can relax, sit back and enjoy the scenery. When I'm PVPing I'm usually too concentrated for that.

True, it gets repetitive, but the rewards are great: either new ships/mods to pew \o/ or I'm delivering stuff to sell and make ISK \o/ (I hate shooting red crosses for ISK). Also, I make all my hauling runs once a week max.

I use mainly BRs and fit for align time + warp speed (incl. supercheap +8% warp speed implant) to make it sweet and quick.

Finally, moving my 6bil+ JF with several bil cargo is always a thrilling experience. No matter how carefully you fly, you know something can always go terribly wrong and that keeps it fun.

I also really enjoy talking a ****, btw. Lol I often browse EVE-O on my mobile/ipad while I'm at it. Blink

I guess I like hauling, but not all the time.

Spent about 3 hours trade-hauling tonight. Earned ~450m, but I like to stick to the low risk stuff.

I was only using one freighter; I own 5 Charon and 3 Rhea.

Not in the slightest, though there can be a sense of accomplishment in assembling a list of things in a place they were never meant to be. Dragging ships to some remote area is fine. Dragging popular rigs and fittings there is something else. Of course I've done this many times, sat there and watched them not sell and they sit there still. The hauling aspect was accomplishing though..

Good bumping sir,

I enjoy a hauling myself out. Not so much for the clickedie click click, but for the people I meet along the way. As you know I'm on a work enforce break at the moment, but look forward to getting back into it when I return. Whilst I do enjoy public contracts, I get a good buzz from dipping the freighter into low sec and private customers.

The interesting thing is, in any other game I'm a PVPer, but Eve strangely draws me to take those delicious contracts from a-b-c (the b being the bumps along the way, the c for the catalysts). Most of the time I get the big d at the end... Destination.

If making bucketloads of ISK is fun, then yes, hauling is fun. But, it isn't that simple...

In the last many months, especially since June, what has made hauling fun (for me, at least) is content creators like yourself. While ATK play was the norm 99.9% of the time for me, nowadays AFK piloting these loot pinatas is suicidal, and many of the aspects of PvP come into play. While a freighter can't shoot a gun, things like scouting, making tacticals, and having an escort (among other things) are a necessity, particularly going through Uedama and Niarja, and surrounding systems.

So - thank you for making hauling a lot more interesting, and engaging. I can't say that the majority of haulers, including those in my corporation/alliance, are going to agree with my view, though Lol

Hauling is a chore.

I do all my own when I have to get my loot from deep null to empire but I won't take it all the way to the trade hub. I just get it somewhere closer then set up a public courier contract and a pro will move it the rest of the way.

I think space trucking for a living would be so boring but different strokes..

Depends on what you're hauling and where.

Ore through highsec: meh.

Cloaky hauler through lowsec: yeah, ok.

Boosters 30 jumps through HS: i find it fun.

Recommend you rotate your vocation every 6 months almost religiously

The biggest mistake you can make in EVE is to refuse to try "something new"

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I'm a lazy lazy person. As a result of this whenever my alliance moves it's home base and I'm told 'MOVE ALL YOUR ****' I move a couple cargo holds worth of stuff and a few ships and that's pretty much it.
I don't like moving stuff.
I don't like being a target unless I'm packing heat and ready to respond.
As a result I have learned to embrace a decentralized approach to things.
Different playstyles demand different things from their operators.
My pve uber carebear buddy is all about having his stuff in one place, and he preens over his 'ship'....
For myself, I have a veritable fleet scattered all over high sec, a few bits of low sec and maybe a spot or two in null.
The notion being 'oh snap, I got kaboomed... oh, three jumps to my nearest combat ship'. For him, catastrophe if sudden decompression happens.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

I haul 20-30 billion in my freighter each time because I'm not afraid of ganks because I totally understand the mechanics and I fly with an alt on standby. I make 5 billion a day through basic arbitrage.
