It isn't entitled. Every ship sold, every unit of veldspar, transaction with isk. It needs to come from somewhere. Those new to the game or are otherwise reserved playstyle can only play if they have that safe isk location. A high risk person might need to fall back to a low risk to lick their wounds. There is benefit.

It is entitled in a very literal way to say "I should not be subject to loss, or I'll quit".

That's what highsec is, these days. They're entitled, lazy, bloated, and it's the fault of CCP for never once making them actually subject to risk vs reward in the past decade. When CCP nerfed incursions, they cried until it was reversed. When MTUs allowed drone assist to generate engagement flags, rather than say "you guys probably shouldn't be afk with your drones set to assist", CCP made one of the fastest hotfixes I have ever seen to give the poor bears a hug and let them afk through L4s again. (seriously, they let the FW LP exploit sit for weeks, but MTUs took them four days? I call bull)

All this safety, all this no risk and no effort has created a playerbase who aren't even real players. They're like the fat kid in elementary school, he needs to get off his ass and lose some weight, but because he was coddled he can't just go play sports with the rest of the kiddos at all, he is hugely inferior to people who were doing it right.

But that does not warrant more coddling, and more unhealthy snacks. It warrants taking the bag of Cheetos away and putting his fat, lazy ass on a treadmill for once in his life.

Now that is words I can agree with. AFK play, go away. Incursions, have said time and time again have the biggest problem with the fact they are on rails. The incursion NPCs, fleet restrictions, etc actually do make for a fairly tough combat.... if you do not know what to expect.

And that is the biggest part of the whole risk side of all things pvp. This is 2015, on rails pve just does not cut it. Power NPCs (the ones you have to play perfect or die) is well in the past and usually not tolerated much any more either. If they changed generation to be somehow procedural or adaptive, that alone solves most of the PVE isk faucet discussions. I doubt people would complain about the isk much if there was, say a 5% chance of you losing your ship in an incursion fleet with experience in them. It earns enough to pay for the pve ship and invest elsewhere without it being able to be a solid farm.

I really don't get the coddling. I really dont. It is the same thing with off grid boosting in my books. What is the point. Yes, they can be countered by scanning. Actually, if their booster is warping to avoid probing, who cares if you kill it. Guy isn't providing meaningful boosts. When I flew command ships back while Red Alliance had Red Legion, in the roaming gangs, I flew them in fleet and on grid. Nobody cared because... gasp... fun? I loved being in my vulture/damnation right in the midst of things. I had to be smart, attentive, mobile and damn well be watching all positioning to keep alive. They would target, they would try to get me. All the while they were doing that? Our fleet was hitting their damage. That is what eve should be. In your face, in the thick. That is what makes a challenging, fun and engaging game.

Eve has probably one of the biggest attractions to any MMO, and it is completely wasted. That is EWAR and support. No other MMO has a game (aside from ones that have level adjusters when teaming) in which somebody like a day in can provide a meaningful assist to players. Remote tracking links, sebu, painter, webber, scram and disrupt, ecm. All that stuff, is low SP. Get a newb in the cheap ship and be it pve or pvp, they can provide quite the serious bit of support. And their ships are cheap. One bil isk, well that is 1000 support ships (est) for newbs. Cheap cheap cheap. When I would teach indies about defensive pvp in ewar, they were concerned about losing ships. So I bought them a pile of celestis with ewar and the skill books to use em. Two hours later, 40 miners had the ewar to completely clusterfluff the small corp dec allowing the few dps dealers to put them down. Cheap, easy and effective. It ended war dec, and they stopped getting them.

These, 10, 20, 40m sp minimum corps are missing out. Take your team of pro pvpers, now go out and recruit apprentices. Their job is to offer support in areas in frigs and cheap cruisers. Keep up or die. Do good and all expenses covered. Result? They get out of highsec, learn and on top of that, you now have a ship loaded with support so you are not using up precious fitting slots. If they take out your newbs? Good. Tiny frigs that take a while to lock and kill now means you have two minutes of advantage that never existed before.

Instead, they hide behind kb efficiencies and autopilot alts. Quite sad. No interest in my game. I will pve solo in hostile NBSI space. I make isk, is fun and keeps you on edge. I don't see how it is possible we cannot make pve encounters which can... I dunno... take out ships with tactics instead of alpha? Need to apply RTS style programming.

In the adding to the above about being safe, I mentioned OGB. There is a bit of a weak spot back with larger alpha fleets. I have a command boosting archon when we did capital stuff. But there was that hole between capital and battlecruiser. A "Flagship" battleship that fits tank between battlecruiser and capital would be nice if on grid was more desireable.

That said, if other improvements to pvp can go though, this can make it more like a modern naval fleet operates. With the ability to go through gates, if you want a big booster? Well now I could theoretically take my archon through gates if the engagements are expected to escalate to an insane level.
