Trial limits of the 60 day thingy?

I really want to get my m8 into EVE, and this 60 day code looks like the PERFECT way to do so... however...
Are there the same limitations on the 60 day trial account as the 14 day trial account? I don't see any reason to use it if it's 60 days of being unable to train 95% of skills or use past a Frigate (could easily have him fitted for a T2 cane or tanking L4s in 60 days if the limits aren't there, which would definitely have him more interested than flying a Kestrel for 2 months)

And by "95% of skills" you mean...

Industrials and...uh...

What are the other skills that trials can't learn again?

You can't learn anything above Frigate... you can't train any gunnery or missile skills above the tier 1 skills... etc etc
What are you smoking "industrials" lmao

Apparently some time they increased the restrictions, or I'm hallucinating.

So, looks like t1 cruisers are the highest they can go which...I guess isn't that bad (rushing for BS is dumb anyway) but the limit should probably be removed.

yes, you can train T1 cruisers (not battlecruisers). Besides, you'll have lots of stuff to train for 60 days, such as skills for T2 general fitting modules, core stuff, and alot more stuff like it. Course if he wants a T2 ship he will have to sign up... but that doesn't stop him from lining up all his skills to get said T2 ship and fit it well in 60 days.

Yeah, be we all know how limited the fun in the game is playing a ship that can only tackle and has less than 30 dps

Oh well, I was really hoping CCP wised up on this version of the trial.

On the other hand, if the current mechanics stop someone like you from being someone's mentor for their first days in EVE, I'm all for it.

A frigate can do more than "only tackle" and does more than 30dps...

(Yes, those are T2 guns, but the point remains that a Rifter is more than 30dps even with T1 guns.)

Minmatar: Rifter, Thrasher (OMG BUFF), Rupture, Stabber
Gallente: Incursus, Tristan, Catalyst, Thorax, Vexor
Caldari: Merlin, Kestrel, Caracal, Blackbird, Moa
Amarr: Punisher, Inquisitor, Coercer, Maller, Arbitrator

Pick a race. Train to use T2 equipment and all varieties of fits, plus fitting mods, support mods (speed, gunnery, missile operation). Oh there went your half-a-year, not just 2 months. Then, subscribe and start flying AFs, Interceptors, etc.

Newbies don't need to hop into a Hurricane or a Drake as soon as possible. That just leads to really, really dumb lossmails. Killing a Hurricane with a Stiletto, or a Prophecy with a Punisher, for examples of stupid kills I've gotten.

That reminds me of the time Petrus and I killed two BS in lowsec...We were flying rifters.

It was a Ferox and an Apocalypse, you bad person, so a BC and a BS. But still, good times, good times. They were T1 fit Rifters, even. http://rling.opensourcenerd.com/kb/?a=kill_related&kll_id=114

I'm not looking to get this guy into PvP, I doubt he'll be getting ganked running L4s in empire. Yes, there is a lot of training he can do to get ready for T2, but lets be honest... 99% of the gaming population that I could try and bring here are instant gratification (not the EVE type) it's not that easy to say "Hey you can train for 2 years and have a few mil SP to run L4 solo but it'll be fairly boring before then, or you can PvP in a rifter and be the only one who dies when 10 of us jump on a single guy"

Ya know

It'll be fairly boring after then, IMO. I was pretty excited when I finally got to be able to solo L4 missions. I did a couple, threw up a bit in my mouth because of the sheer boring, then got a Rifter and went to die in a fire.

Flying frigate tackle is pretty much as "instant gratification" as it gets without going and shooting tiny red crosses (which again, IMO, is extremely boring). Go out and be essential to your gang getting a kill, and you will have had fun whether you died or not. If you did, the ship takes literally the cost of 1-2 nullsec rats to replace -- most likely refunded if you killed a more expensive ship and looted a couple of drones at least.

I am rambling, though.

Basically, this. Get your friend to join, then refer him to a mentor who doesn't equate ship cost to its usefulness, or shooting tiny red crosses with fun.
