I'm told active modules keep cycling after a d/c. So, if it happens to you, your ship should have a fighting chance to either move away from the rats to stay alive, or out-rep incoming damage until you reconnect.

It is not speculated at it is is proven, with my crappy internet connection I lost a Golem due to bastion and a DC which CCP politely refused to replace siting bastion mode and my crappy internet connection
From that I chose to test this a second time about 6 weeks after the first event with the exact same results. No I did not even ask I chose to test this so I accepted the loss as the cost of my experiment.
This was further tested and confirmed about 2 months ago when I was on bastion and had a socket error that booted me. By time it cleared and I could get back online the ship was gone and CCP kindly replaced that one based on the specific circumstances of the loss.

The rest of your post is sound advice for those who fly Marauders and use the bastion module often.
