An interesting read.

I was present at the event. It should be noted that the scanning device used was an Entosis Link and not a traditional scanning module. I suspect this was the reason that the Empress reacted so harshly to the attack.

As the device is so new, I doubt we fully understand all its possible applications. From the open communication on the system's local channel, it appears as though the device was used to gather information from the Avatar-class Titan in such a way that by-passed all internal security measures.

I can see how this would be considered an extreme threat, despite the presence of a fleet at her back, but this should have caused the forced apprehension of the Gnosis vessel and recovery of data stolen. Destroying the vessel and the pod only freed the pilot and his knowledge along with it. The only reason I can see for the destruction of the ship was a fear-based response to eradicate all hard-evidence of any recorded information to prevent it from being read by even her own internal security.

Certainly makes you wonder what knowledge was taken.
