But then, the ship would stay in that mode where it's not beaten. Modes are only useful if it generate a meaningfully choice. If the rail ferox is better at rail feroxing than anything else, it will be sued for rail feroxing. If it has other mods like a better blaster profile but that still get beaten by a brutix, people will use the brutix instead of swapping mode especially if they have to dock anyway.
