Mostly OK though it's messed up my sound drivers so my laptop thinks I've got head phone's plugged in permanently. The inbuilt recorder is pretty sweet for recording fights so can review what I did well or could have done differently.

I'm thinking it's Win7 till that dies, and then onward with Ubuntu.

Just updated my main desktop, absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Explorer...Just don't make it the default, I'm using Chrome as my default, and btw it's now called Microsoft Edge.

Media Player is still there as well, I have Rogue Rock Radio playing through it now.

Minesweeper and Solitaire, pass :)

Updates, just turn off auto mode, privacy? you can turn all of them off very easily.

I think some of you need to get rid of some paranoia about Microsoft...Apple is much worse..

Beside the threat that MS has access to my complete data or maybe not ... (EVE and) Win 10 is running great. And those poeple who believe that I am an idiot using Win 10 AT THE MOMENT. What do you think will happen in 10+ months? Will MS change the rules? Will your PC safe(r)? COME ON. It will not and never happen! So deal with the crap or believe in some kind of LINUX for the nerds or do you really think that Win 7 has not a backdoor to the NSA? Anyway. I will die within the next 40 years. That's for sure. And if MS is happy to ANALyze my chats, porn, mails ... have fun with that because in 4 billions years the sun and earth will be anyway history. Twisted

This wouldn't be such a huge deal if it wasn't for the fact that people that want a system that's relevant in gaming has to have a Windows system, otherwise you're out of luck as that's pretty much the only system they release games for. Get started on Linux please, it's the lack of dev support for Linux that's holding me back from making it my main system. A vicious cycle.
Hmm? You can buy a Linux distro with a service contract. I have, a Redhat based server deployment in my case. Excellent support from them. Fedora does too, to name another, but I've never used Fedora. Just Redhat, Mandrake/Mandriva and then now Ubuntu (current for some time). Oh Ubuntu Advantage offers a service contract for advanced desktop (home computers), between $100-$150yr depending on the package.

As for CCP, they have been good towards seeing that EVE seems to keep working on a Linux setup. If you have one of those giant hard drives with little on it, you can always dual boot, try that for a year, even if it's non-contract as that's not really important for a desktop deployment. btw you have Linux if you have an android device Smile runs on a modified Linux kernel.

That's "geeks", genius. But Linux has become far more user friendly in recent years, because geeks like normal people, and don't just build things for super heroes like nerds do hehehe

And can have much more Installations of this copy for free. You pay for the helpdesk, not for the OS.
As admin i know the 3 three big OSes.

I like them all, but linux i like the most, especially in serv(er/ing) business.

Edge is a completely new browser and faster than Chrome. Just waiting on MS adding Chrome extensions support to it.

So Windows 10 isn't forcing updates on you? And it doesn't send back telemetry anymore?

So far I've settled on a Arch Linux / Win7 dual boot system.

Microsoft improving Windows 10 with regular updates? This is outrageous.

For those paranoid souls who are against this version of Windows due to privacy concerns and spying...

What is it exactly you have to hide? And how do you imagine what you (don't) have to hide can be used against you?

As for me? I don't care. I don't view porn (much...), I'm not a terrorist and I have nothing to hide.

If governments or Microsoft wanna see some lame facebook posts, read my emails and see how many SP my eve pilots have, good luck to them.

There is nothing they can use against me so meh...

Can you message me your username and password for your email/facebook/twitter/EVE Online accounts please? I just want to check your emails among other things, since you have nothing to hide then - no need to worry.

So the government / Microsoft are gonna make posts on my behalf? They gonna clear out my bank account?

Any examples of this happening, or is it just paranoia?

Institutions having my details? No worries. Nothing to hide.

Individuals? Not the same and you know it. Not that I trust institutions, but what can we do about it? At the end of the day, if they want your data, they will get it. Do you still use credit / debit cards? Connected to the electricity grid? Receive post? Registered to vote? Unless you are totally off grid (and even then spy satellites will find you), they have your data anyway.

Question still stands (other than some nutter ranting on a documentary). What do you have to hide that you don't want governments or Microsoft to find out? And doesn't trying to hide your data make you MORE of a target?
Why worry about something you cannot avoid?

Ill just leave this here...Privacy - and why we shouldn't worry about it...

But anyways, Windows 10 installed here, along with the 'insider builds' option ticked. Updates installed. All workig well with Eve and even a modest increase in framerate with no change to graphics drivers (from 15fps to 17fps using AMD radeon 5450 on medium settings).

I'm literally browsing kernel source right now, looking for spaiz in my libreboot Stillman-approved system. It's hard work, and I can't really hold down a job in anything outside of the fields of computer science, software engineering, or information security, but if LITERALLY EVERYONE doesn't also do this... I'm pretty sure THE GLOBAL CAPITALISM is going to ruin Mother Gaia with proprietary firmware blobs.

So, consider yourselves on notice WINDOZE users. When you look outside and see toddlers carrying their ruck-sack down into a coal-mine that doubles as an incinerator for political prisoners, just remember that THIS IS THE FUTURE YOU CHOSE.

I am not sure if you guys have an answer for this but I too installed Win 10 (from Win 7) on my dedicated gaming rig. I did my research and disabled a lot of the "features" that people in this thread are concerned about and I am over all satisfied with the OS performance.

The thing that has mean very curious is that whenever I am in game (EvE, WoWS, AW etc) I will occasionally and randomly end up on the desktop with the game minimized to the tool bar. I now have to click on it to return to game.

Now, I do have a new monitor (TV). So the question is, is it Win 10 or the monitor doing this? If it is Win 10 any ideas what how and why?

Google searches have not helped. I think I am not using the appropriate phrases maybe.
