Just a quick report on events at day 1:

Opening Meeting: Discussed the ongoing reorganization of CCP, designed to make the company better able to deliver what customers want. This means more a focus on spaceships that look good before, during and after they blow up.

Future of the CSM: Discussed possible changes to the makeup of the CSM and the election process, with the goal of making the CSM as representative of the community as possible.

Customer Loyalty: Discussed ways CCP can reward and encourage customer loyalty. A very interesting session, actually. This replaced the EVE/DUST link session; because of the ongoing reorganization, the team responsible for the link did not feel ready to make a presentation.

The Economy in General / The PLEX in Particular: In-depth sessions on the EVE economy; in general, things are going well. Lots of graph porn much of which will hopefully soon be released in a devblog.

Security: Overview of ongoing security improvement efforts.

Thanks for the update Trebor.

Stay easy on the free bacon.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Doesst this mean that we won't have news on EVE-Dust integration (and CCP won't be able to collect your feedback over it)? I was looking forward to that (even if I agree that it's not the focus of the game).
Apart from that, looks like good news.

Keep the updates coming - Much appreciated

Believe in what they do, not what they say.

We have to buy our own bacon this year. No free breakfast at the hotel, no bacon at CCP.

We expect that we will be updated (via forums, skype meeting, etc) as soon as there is something for us to be updated on.

Nice to know what goes on. Keep them coming; I may not be happy with your composition, but your efforts are appreciated.

Trebor,

Why don't you guys get with the EVE marketing dept and ask them to send these updates out via subscribers email ? Also, why not set up a dedicated Facebook page and official "CSM" twitter account and use that as a communication medium ?
The goal should be to build a cohesive social media driven brand that provides good communication and excellent feedback.
You have the media component down, now all you would have to do is put the "Social" into it.
The CSM can also collaborate with the various EVE related sites out there can help drive subscriber uptake, a CSM driven blog that becomes the resource for news, information and communication would be a good idea too.
Just my two cents from a marketing perspective.

Unless a "more representative" CSM means preference voting, I'm not sure I like the sound of it.

The last thing the CSM needs is artificial constraints on who can sit based on where they live in the game...

**** that. The most 'loyal' customers this summer were those who told CCP to stop being so terrible. My 'loyalty' is to the sandbox, not to the assclowns who are perpetually ******* it up.

If CCP wants to reward and encourage customer loyalty, there's a VERY simple way to do it:

Take pride in your work. Make EVE a game worth playing. Make New Eden a virtual world worth fighting over. Stop being lazy, greedy, conniving scrubs.

A great game true to the 'harsh, but fair, long-term oriented player-driven sandbox game' concept you sold us is the greatest reward you can give your customers. If you give us that, we will blot out the Internet with our word-of-mouth advertising and with our 'loyalty.' If you don't, no bribing of fanbois with PLEX you bought with printed ISK will make up for it.

(Stoffer hasn't changed his tune a bit since what he posted in Fearless. He was on about rewarding loyalty with aurum back then, too. ... Scrub.)

CSM was meant to be an oversight committee to police CCP's rampant nefarious/unethical behavior. It wasn't meant to be a ******* rainbow coalition of diversity or a nullsec coalition of megalomaniacal, narcissistic, paste-eating neckbeards.

Restore CSM's raison d'être or get rid of the ******* thing already.

Support my proposal, which is the only sensible one out there, and let's hold CSM accountable when they pursue their own narrow agendas instead of the best interests of the game.
