every time a new player joins the game they're told "go and lose a bunch of t1 frigates, it's the best way to learn!"

then all of a sudden you're literally some kind of abominable monster if you shoot a new player flying a t1 frigate?

what the hell has happened to this place?

its a bit different when you are recruiting into a corp so you can be target practice for a group of mercs. half those guys are just getting repeatbly killed and probably forced to just log off and never return.

great learning experience huh

and your proof that this is the case?
or are we just going to all start saying that you're clearly RMTing the isk that you earn, and it must be true because we said so in a forum post?

those players are free to leave the corp if they feel it is a **** corp whos raison d'etre is to be farmed by a group of mercs. nobody is forcing them to log off and never return.

sure it's a great learning experience - welcome to eve where nowhere is safe and if you can't handle it then this game really isn't for you.

no proof, merely an assumption based on the facts provided Big smile i guess ccp can only decide the proof but doesnt take a genius to work out, come on dont play the idiot

don't play the idiot?

i'm not the one whining that people are shooting new players flying t1 frigates, despite the most popular advice for new players is to "go and lose a bunch of t1 frigates" when they ask how to get started.

or the one making baseless accusations.

My take on this whole thing is this:

This is either a noob-harvesting endeavor based on kills or some meta-jollies of driving real people out of the game...

OR

this is a covert attempt to get noobs into PVP which is an aspect of the game that is not to be missed, especially for new players, who have less to lose and are apt to have a good time.

Yes, it could be an evil thing, or a good thing. But then, it's not like Eve Online never had such issues come up before. Pirate

I'm all for getting noobs into PVP as soon as possible. I have seen a lot of players just grind for years working towards some golden end game where they can take some pimped out bling boat into lowsec for some PVP and then have it die in a gate-raep in the same amount of time it would take to kill a rookie ship. That's the player who gets bored out of the game. So anything to avert that would be a good thing.

But if this is all about noob harvesting for jollies, well, we need to take issue with it. Using new players for padding kill stats is pretty low. What I have learned dealing with highsec dec corps is that if you fight them, you get another dec. Stay away from them, and you don't.

This plays into my theory that the "elite" PVPer of highsec is in highsec for the same reason as those they prey upon: nullsec sucks. Bubble and BLOPS mechanics suck. It's easier to get your pew on by being in a highsec deccing corp and gate camp in highsec with impunity: no BLOPS drops, and no bubble camps. We have seen *ahem* certain dec corps with "GTFO fits", meaning they have no desire to stick around if a target shows it can fight back. First sign of possible loss, they run off. They do not even go around and hunt. If lowsec and nullsec mechanics did not suck (or if the people already out there were not so good at what they do) these same people camping highsec with scatter-decs would leave for more PVP rich content. Thus the "make ships easy to catch" content additions have done more damage to PVP than one might expect. I refer to bubble immune ceptors, instalokis, warp speed changes (killed the battleship solo/small PVP except for the occasional total-BAWLS Domi), etc.

Experienced players are much harder to catch. They have NPC corp scouts, they know how to find a war target, and they have alts and a lot of "housekeeping" that does not even involve undocking. Older players who already don't have much time to play will simply play something else or catch up on RL stuff they been needing to do anyway.

Overall, if the latter case is true it would be foolish to treat it as a problem directly without addressing what causes it. And it's one job I glad I don't have (be sure to send CCP a Christmas card this year).

the killboard, the corp history, it is pretty obvious you are farming these guys, 345 members, 8 kills and 525 losses but whatever floats your goat

And how does this prove that people are only being invited to the corp in order to be used as killboard padding?

Ralph et al, you guys are insisting on obfuscating the primary issue, which is in of itself, shall we say, quite reveling!

There is no problem with the targeted corp, nor with its recruitment process. The issue is solely what was the intent of who-so-ever created said corp. Was it: -

a) "hey 0-day noob, join my corp, we have candy!!" And oops, forgot to mention the repeated and ongoing war-decs (read slaughter.) My bad.

or

b) " hey 0-day noob, join my corp, WE HAVE CANDY TwistedTwistedTwisted!!!" muuhaha muhahah, MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Obviously I haven't gone through the new player experience in a long time, so maybe someone can confirm this for me - in my time this game was notorious for the new player ending up in situations that can only be described as "WTF JUST HAPPENED!" The new guy carries on and then "omg wtf just happended AGAIN!?!?" New guys logs off, uninstalls client.

Now has that situation improved, and by that I mean when 0-day guys joins the above corp, did he/she get a BIG POP UP BOX saying you join, you are at war and they can kill you whenever, where ever?

Thanks in advance for the reply.

If the corp is at war they can state such a thing in the motd in the corp chat channel.

It should be up to the corp to keep its members safe and informed, not ccp.

So what if it wasn't? Nobody is forcing people to join or stay.

As a general rule of thumb, griefing and scams targeted specifically at rookie players, especially in rookie systems, are not ok. If you think that's what these guys are doing, you should file a support ticket, and the GM's will investigate.

If I just happened to be someone in one of those war-deccing corps, who just happens to own an alt that formed the target corp, I'd be investing in a crash helmet right about now.

Wardecs are neither griefing or scamming.

Same with corp recruitment.

We are going in circles here, ISD is probably already inbound with a lock.

As a general rule DEVILS doesn't discuss the nature of our contract work... I'm assuming this is a giant fail troll. I'm sure leadership looks forward to answering any and all questions from CCP.

This is ridiculous.

The Great Karnak predicts that CCP will put in some popup box to warn people joining a corp that the corp is at war and this will be construed as OMG CCP NERFIING PVP THEY LOVE CAREBEARS IT'S BECOMING WOW EVE IS DYING!!!!!1!!!!!!eleven!!!marshamarshamarsha!!!! Then after some locked 20+ itemized threads on why CCP hates PVPers, CODE. will start double-secret-probation-hyperdunking as "revenge".
