The events of recent have caused me to remember back to when I was still a very young woman in seminary. In addition to all the theology and history of our faith, I was given instructions on the rules of the Order of St. Aroum. St. Aroum was a priest that was an early supporter of Emperor Heideran V’s Moral Reforms. He would never live to see the full implementation of those reforms as he was killed by the reactionaries of the defunct Council of Apostles, martyred for his faith. The order founded in his name just after the Moral Reforms pledged absolute true loyalty to the Theology Council. One of the precepts of the order was that ‘if the Theology Council declares to be white, what our eyes perceive to be black, then we shall likewise in our obedience to God see it to be white as well.’ We were also taught that we can only be martyrs once; that sometimes we must take a stand on our faith, even though it may kill us and when we do take that stand, make sure that it is worth the sacrifice.

As I go over the events of recent, I have come to the conclusion that this is my time to take a stand. That we, the Empire in all of its institutions have erred. The Theology Council, the heirs and even the Speakers of Truth have failed in their task. That they would dethrone the Empress, condemn her as acting against the will of God and then condemn her to death is a fact that I find unconscionable.

The first argument against her, that she violated the Godflesh doctrine is simply foolish. The Godflesh doctrine was written as a reaction to a new technology. Now that we understand cloning better and the almighty power of the Lord God, we cannot bind his power to say that He is unable to work through a clone. The Lord God is all powerful and can do what He wishes. Godflesh should have been reviewed and dismissed a long time ago as an interim policy that has no place becoming formal doctrine.

Such accusations as the existence of some sort of AI in her head are simply insane. Yes, there was some peculiar behaviour. However, the wild accusations of a sleeper or drifter AI are just too far beyond the outer limits as to what I can believe. The Empress, prior to the drifter’s en mass invasion spoke plainly about the need to resist them. It is a poorly controlled agent that tells the Empire to resist the controlling party.

Her actions, from her first suicide to save the Empire from a long and bloody civil war, to returning in one of our darkest hours to save the Empire from the Elder Invasion, to creating the Templars, to her even accepting the judgement of death from her lessers show us that she is God’s anointed with only the welfare of the Empire and her subjects in her mind. The self centred, power hungry, unrighteous men and women baying for her blood so they can take her seat are not worthy to kiss the ground she walks. It is disgusting to see such men as Ardishapur and Kor-Azor give lectures on the will of God. May they drown in their own blood.

The Empress’s loyal subjects are willing to fight on her behalf. We do not because she has asked us not to. However, I am not willing to simply accept her death and swear loyalty to the heretics that have taken residence in the Imperial Palace. I will not fight, but I will die with my Empress.

When she is executed, I will follow her in death. I can only hope that God will see fit to deliver His wrath upon those who will have killed his anointed daughter. May God accept her soul into His Paradise.

(The proceeding is a bit of speculative fiction on my part, taking place in a future where the Empress has been found to be a clone and the Other has been revealed. With the recent live events, people have been looking at the possible futures and wondering what their characters will do. I have decided to write about Alizebeth's response to one of those possible futures.)
