Credit where credit is due, they did manage to selectively manipulate an entire market field 'just because'.
That does attest to considerable drive and the ability to (albeit wantonly) affect the game, even if they only number a fraction of EVE subs.

That hulkageddon is starting this year just after an Ice embargo does pose a curious question about whether this is just a 'sanctioned' escalation of mineral prices before a Goon selloff.

Speculation aside, a once-a-year 'culling of the herd' can be helpful in keeping the economy fresh however. Just means I'll be running missions for a month or so.. or poking around for weak pirate wannabes in lowsec.

Hulkageddon V is still just a nice rumor. I suspect its just a Goon driven market scare tactic at this point. I am sure they are collecting big on destroyer and covetor BPCs and bumping ice and minerals a bit too.

I mean normally there are all sort of advertisements with CCP even making up a banner for logon a week or more ahead of time.

Most importantly this seems FAKE because there is no offiicial posting of prizes and categories and any other "rules" slim as they are (like trying to check if that first kill was you shooting your alt or corpmate buddy.) And most importantly of the official posting --- no list of official sponsors and donations.

Hulkageddon will probably happen soon...but mostly likely we will have a month of OFFICIAL consistent postings first.

Or maybe not stupid. With GOONs involved its probably gonna be both half-assed and stealth campaign with prizes awarded secretly. Just because the GOONs feel that a totally inside contest would be bizzarely funny especially if there idiots who try to compete but are not part of the INSIDE Goon cliche. Keep in mind a lot of GOON humor is very "high school and college frat bullies forever" type humor.


Or it is possible GOONs will try to be very professional but just lack experience with public EVE wide events and forgot to advertise details.

ANYTHING is possible with Goons playing a big official role for the first time.

Considering that the full cost of a tornado hull is about the same as the total loss of a maelstrom hull with platinum insurance, I'd say that's a pretty sweet deal.

Now how do I collect on this insurance?
