I remember a time when it was hard to get them. I'm guessing it's not worth it any longer to have the POS's in highsec?

Depends on what you need them for. You are no longer limited by system security to what moons you can place POS's on, so a lot more moons are available.

Well, I wasn't really sure, just noticed a large number of empty moons and a lot of offline pos's as well. Nothing on them...wish you could unachor them lol

Moons are still better than stations. Especially if you are doing me/pe research

A POS is quite useful in systems without a factory station. If you're lucky, you can find systems with nobody doing any industry in them, and therefore a low cost index. Location is everything, I just relocated closer to the tradehub I'm selling in. I like the shorter hauling tours, especially for large amounts of minerals, which can be quite annoying in a slooooowly aligning freighter.

POS will give you a substantial TE bonus for research, copying and invention. Downside (other than cost) is the need to move stuff around and you are a more attractive wardec target.

Small POS is all you need as a solo industrialist since there are no more slot restrictions and you can quickly put modules on or offline to match your current requirements.

That said, I took my POS down during a war last winter and didn't bother putting it back. Working in the station takes a bit longer and costs a bit more but not enough to justify the hassle of running a POS. I'm happy with my choice and probably won't reconsider until CCP releases their new structures.

I'm 5 jumps from a major trade hub and the moon I was using is still vacant.
